The Role:
We are seeking an Obstetrics and Gynaecology Specialist/Consultant to join a regional service – you will be responsible for providing supervision and guidance of the clinical management of Obstetrics and Gynaecology patients at the Hospital - This will include providing direct clinical care to patients as clinical need dictates.
In addition, the O+G Specialist will contribute to teaching and training at both an undergraduate and a postgraduate level and will lead and participate in relevant clinical research.
The health service has recently completed a major redevelopment, including the building of a new emergency department, ICU, and expansion of medical and paediatric units. The University of Melbourne’s rural clinical school is located onsite.

The O+G Specialist will be responsible (with other VMO Obstetrician and Gynaecologists) for specialist level care of patients in a level 4 Obstetric Unit.
Patients requiring higher level care will be referred to an appropriate centre (level 5 or 6 facility) in accordance with current established practice at the Hospital. In addition, the O+G Specialist is expected to provide General Gynaecology services. Patients requiring sub-speciality Gynae-oncology or complex Urogynaecology or complex Laparoscopic Gynaecology services will be referred to an appropriate tertiary
Centre.

Essential:
You must have Registration with the Medical Board of Australia and Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists and appropriate experience. Specialist trainees approaching the end of their training are also encouraged to apply.
