About the role
As part of the Digital Health Infrastructure systems team, the Senior IT Systems Administrator will support a program of works across the Grampians Rural Health Alliance (GRHA) to support the transition of Maryborough District Health Service (MDHS) Information and Communications Technology (ICT) services from Loddon Mallee Shared Services (LMSS) to the GRHA.
The ICT transition will improve the coordination of care, streamline clinical and back-office functions, enable shared patient administration, and integrate care journeys at Maryborough District Health Service with their Health Service Partnerships (HSPs) in the Grampians region.
Systems Administrator activities include building and maintaining servers by means of installing and testing patches and upgrades to operating systems, configuration, performance monitoring, backups, developing and testing scripts, database administration, setting up test environments, and assisting with the diagnosis and rectification of faults.
The position also has responsibility for administering and maintaining application, database, web, file and print servers as well as general operation of business and health applications across all Grampians Health (GH) and GHRA sites.
The Systems Administrator assists Information Technology management in defining and implementing standard server operating environments and core application strategies.
As a member of Information Technology, the appointee will contribute to the overall performance of the team consistent with Grampians Health Mission, Vision and Objectives.
Key Responsibilities
* Perform regular build and maintenance on server hardware, operating systems, application servers, database management systems, and backup solutions.
* Troubleshoot and rectify faults in server-based operating systems and applications.
* Provide remote and face-to-face service as part of the service team.
* Administer systems software and production services for regional campuses.
* Monitor server performance and availability of core applications.
* Collaborate with ICT teams for effective solution design and ensure high IT security standards.
Skills, Qualifications & Experience
* Experience in delivering IT services in medium to large organizations.
* Tertiary degree in IT, computer science, or computer systems engineering, or relevant industry experience and/or certifications (e.g., MCSA, MCSE, VCP).
* Ability to work effectively both autonomously and as part of a team.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for identifying and resolving IT issues.
* Familiarity with Microsoft server environments, Active Directory, Microsoft Exchange, and Microsoft 365.
* Knowledge of ITIL Framework, structured programming (e.g., PowerShell), and emerging technologies.
Work Environment
* Work on-site with the ability to work remotely if required.
* Availability for IT on-call roster on a rotating basis.
