Why This Role Matters The Salvation Army Youth Services offer an integrated suite of programs engaging with young people across Australia. Our services create intentional avenues for young people to explore opportunities, build support networks, and access, participate and contribute to their communities. Youth services provide a diverse range of programs which include housing and homelessness, driver training, education, employment, and training, AOD support, social and community activities, specialist therapeutic responses and youth justice programs.
The Role We are seeking a values-driven Cook who will prepare food in line with TSA standards with assistance from other staff and volunteers. The Café Cook will support the Café Team leader in the effective operation of the Café, focusing on the delivery of excellent food and customer service, whilst minimising costs.
You Will
1. Successfully prepare, present and serve meals with the support of employees and volunteers.
2. Ensure food served is fresh, presented in an attractive manner and meets food quality standards.
3. Ensure all meals are prepared with minimum wastage.
4. Ensure food preparation and storage areas are maintained to a high standard of cleanliness as required by legislation, best practice and kitchen cleaning guidelines.
5. Ensure the hygiene of the kitchen area is maintained ensuring food is handled and prepared and stored in line with Australian Food Safety Standards, TSA policies and procedures and government regulations.
You Will Have
* Paid WWCC/Blue Card required.
* Relevant qualifications and/or experience in food preparation and cooking in a commercial environment.
* Minimum two years previous food service experience.
* WHS – knowledge of work health safety obligations and to practice these in the workplace in line with TSA policy & procedures and legislation.
* Food Safety Certificate.
* Management of volunteers (desirable).
* Professional development required to maintain skills for the role.
This is a Max-Term (12 months from hire date), full-time position located in Bundaberg, QLD.
Salary and conditions are in accordance with the Hospitality Level 5 Award Cook.
