Indian Curry Kingdom (Qld) Pty Ltd is seeking a qualified and experienced Chef to join our kitchen team.
Successful applicants will ensure tasks assigned are carried out in a timely fashion, to a high standard and within food hygiene guidelines.
Tasks & responsibilities
1. Assisting and/or leading the kitchen team in maintaining a smooth and efficient kitchen operation
2. Utilising a variety of fresh, frozen and prepared ingredients to prepare, cook and present a range of dishes according to a seasonal menu and dietary requirements
3. Ensure that meals are of high quality and prepared in a professional manner
4. Assist with portioning food, placing it on plates, and adding gravies, sauces and garnishes (as per menu)
5. Ensuring the cleanliness of kitchen work areas and equipment
6. Assisting with training kitchenhands and apprentices
7. Monitor stock and place orders when there are shortages
8. Menu planning, preparation and pricing of foods as required in consultation with the restaurant owner
Ideal candidates will have:
* A Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery or Diploma in Hospitality
* At least two (2) years’ relevant work experience as a Chef;
* Knowledge of various cooking procedures and methods – Indian cooking experience is an advantage;
* Previous experience in HACCP Food Quality and Safety is desirable;
* Ability to work independently and/or as part of a team;
* Good interpersonal and communication skills;
* Good time management skills, positive and self-motivated;
* Ability to work a flexible roster, including nights, weekends, school and public holiday periods.
The salary offered is based upon the award but may be commensurate with qualifications and experience. This is a full-time position working 38 hours a week.
Salary range: $70,000-$76,000
