Senior Environmental Health Officer
The role of Senior Environmental Health Officer is responsible for controlling and coordinating programs and operations for the development, review, implementation, and administration of environmental health risk assessment and management approaches, policy, and legislation to deliver a high degree of health protection for the South Australian community.
Key Responsibilities
* Coordinate and undertake regulatory activity including investigating, reviewing, assessing and reporting on complex current and emerging public and environmental health matters.
* Provide specialist scientific advice on environmental health issues.
* Lead and provide specialist advice to project research activities for projects approved for research and investigation by Health Protection Programs.
* Develop and deliver environmental health training and education programs and resources for Health Protection Branch staff and local government Environmental Health Officers.
Requirements
* A scientific qualification at degree or higher level, such as Bachelor of Environmental Health or Bachelor of Science with a major in Chemistry or Microbiology.
* Postgraduate qualifications in a related field and/or extensive recognised experience.
* Qualifications accepted by the South Australian Minister for Health for appointment as an Authorised Officer under the South Australian Public Health Act, 2011.
