About this program
The Dental Health Services (DHS) Graduate Development Program is a new initiative being offered to build and develop the clinical skills of new dental graduates. The Program is specifically designed to grow new graduates into confident practitioners and will be an ideal progression from Dental School into clinical practice. Consisting of three phases, the initial phase of the program will ‘kick start your career’, the consolidation phase will improve on ‘what you have’ and the extension phase will improve your skills and capabilities. The program will be conducted in a variety of clinics in locations across Western Australia, with both metropolitan and country placements. Successful applicants will have access to program and clinical supervisors as well as clinical mentors and support mechanisms.
The program includes a structured group educational program held half-day each week designed to consolidate clinical knowledge and skills, equipping successful applicants with the practical abilities required for clinical dental practice. These sessions will include delivery of clinical and non-clinical content, treatment planning, case presentations and group discussion. The group education sessions will also foster an opportunity to grow in partnership with fellow new graduates allowing the continuation of collegiate learning and peer support that exists in university programs. This program aims to enhance your future employment or business prospects by providing participants with clinical confidence, resilience and clinical self-reliance in both large and small practice scenarios.
