* Salary: $84K - $95K (pro rata) + Super - Band 5
* Temporary part-time role at Brunswick Library (from March 2025 until November 2025)
* 31 hours per fortnight includes evening and weekend shifts - 1 Monday, 1 Tuesday (evening shift) and every Wednesday with a minimum of 1 in 8 Sundays
* Ability to transfer or take LSL (Long Service Leave) within Local Government

About the role
Merri-bek City Council is seeking a Children's and Youth Services Librarian to provide high-quality customer service, deliver early literacy programs, and engage meaningfully with our young people.
Key responsibilities include:
* Engaging with our diverse community to provide excellent customer service.
* Assisting with library initiatives to bridge the digital divide.
* Organising and delivering children's and youth programs.
* Conducting collection development work with our children's and youth collections.
* Supervising members of the Children’s and Youth Services team.
* Providing outreach to schools, Kinders, day care centres, and other places where families and young people gather.
Skills and experience required
* Teamwork, supervisory, and communication skills.
* Demonstrable problem-solving skills.
* Ability to deliver projects and programs within agreed timeframes.
* Ability to lead, motivate, and coach staff to achieve team goals and objectives.
* Demonstrable experience in targeted community-based library programs.
* Demonstrable experience in information provision and collection management.
* Fluency in a community language is desirable.
* Eligibility for professional membership of the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA).
* A current Working with Children Check.
