Our Federal Government client is seeking an experienced Infrastructure Engineer to join their Canberra team.
This is a 12 month contract role.
This role is open for Australian citizens with the ability to obtain an NV1 security clearance.
12 month contract roleCanberra basedHybrid (3 days in office and 2 days WFH)Open to Australian citizens with the ability to obtain an NV1 security clearancePaxus pays weeklyAs an Infrastructure Engineer, you will be accountable for the design, implementation, and operation of the agency's Data Centre network infrastructure including Cisco ACI, Cisco Nexus, F5, network appliances, and associated routing and switching.
To be successful in this role you must:
Plan and manage infrastructure requirements to meet future infrastructure demandEnsure the provision of infrastructure-related operational support for hardware, software, and other assetsDefine effective procedures for prioritisation and escalation of infrastructure issues to ensure timely resolutionCommunicate end-to-end implications of configuration changesAnalyse the quality of requests for change managementProvide detailed, specialist technical advice, including strategic advice to the Executive where appropriateProactively share knowledge and expertise as the subject matter expert, and provide assistance and mentorship to less experienced colleaguesDevelop and implement standards, strategies, operational policy and procedures and change initiativesOversee operations of teams, including providing a clear sense of direction, setting work priorities and managing resourcesDevelop staff capability through coaching, mentoring and succession planningNegotiate with suppliers and third-party vendors in the purchase of technology equipmentOversee the development, delivery and performance of contracted goods and servicesOversee team contribution to cost analysis activitiesOversee, review and advise on a range of technical documentation including design documentation, implementation plans, test plans, and support proceduresNegotiate, engage and manage relationships with other agencies and service providers to build service delivery capabilityAttend interagency meetings and forums to influence business outcomes and share informationDrive innovation, continuous improvement and manage and lead changeSet direction by contributing to local business plans and ICT strategiesExercise delegations in accordance with legislation and guidelinesTo be considered for this role you must:
Plan and lead the identification and assessment of emerging technologies and the evaluation of potential impacts, threats and opportunities.
Create technology roadmaps that align organisational plans with emerging technology solutions.
Engage with, and influence, relevant stakeholders to obtain organisational commitment to technology roadmaps.
Develop organisational guidelines for monitoring emerging technologies.
Collaborate with internal and external parties to facilitate intelligence gathering.Apply and maintain specific security controls as required by organisational policy and local risk assessments.
Communicate security risks and issues to business managers and others.
Perform basic risk assessments for small information systems.
Contribute to the identification of risks that arise from potential technical solution architectures.
Suggest alternate solutions or countermeasures to mitigate risks.
Define secure systems configurations in compliance with intended architectures.
Support investigation of suspected attacks and security breaches.Manage the innovation pipeline and execute innovation processes.
Develop and adapt innovation tools, processes and infrastructures to drive the process of innovation.
Identify resources and capabilities needed to support innovation.
Encourage and motivate innovation communities, teams and individuals to share creative ideas and learn from failures.Contribute to the development of solution architectures in specific business, infrastructure or functional areas.
Identify and evaluate alternative architectures and the trade-offs in cost, performance and scalability.
Determine and document architecturally significant decisions.
Produce specifications of cloud-based or on-premises components, tiers and interfaces for translation into detailed designs using selected services and products.
Support projects or change initiatives through the preparation of technical plans and application of design principles.
Align solutions with enterprise and solution architecture standards (including security).Provide definitive and expert advice in their specialist area.
Actively maintain recognised expert level knowledge in one or more identifiable specialisms.
Oversee the provision of specialist advice by others.
Consolidate expertise from multiple sources, including third-party experts, to provide coherent advice to further organisational objectives.
Support and promote the development and sharing of specialist knowledge within the organisation.Design large or complex systems and undertake impact analysis on major design options and trade-offs.
Ensure that the system design balances functional and non-functional requirements.
Review systems designs and ensure that appropriate methods, tools and techniques are applied effectively.
Make recommendations and assess and manage associated risks.
Adopt and adapt system design methods, tools and techniques.
