In 2025, QPSC will be opening our 8th campus in Mt Isa. This is at a new, purpose built facility in Healy. We are looking to recruit highly motivated experienced teachers who can make a genuine difference to the lives of our students. QPSC delivers a 12-month senior transitions program to vulnerable students that are still wanting to complete their senior studies, however, have found it difficult to succeed at this in mainstream schooling. Many of our students have experienced anxiety, depression, homelessness or trauma. By developing a safe and supportive environment, these students are able to achieve their goals and positively move onto pathways in further learning (TAFE or university) or employment. Our curriculum delivery has a strong focus on literacy, numeracy, workplace skills and wellbeing. Our positive teaching approach, creates a respectful, trusting and calm environment. Students are still able to achieve a QCE, however, we look at alternative pathways into tertiary studies. Teaching staff will be upskilled in all areas of curriculum delivery. All curriculum is written and resourced from teams across the whole college. Although a small site, it has the strength of a large school supporting the learning needs of all students. All teachers are trained and supported to deliver the suite of curriculum delivered across the school. Therefore, it is not essential to have a specific specialised subject area, just to have a passion for engaging students and unlocking their potential.
