Milestone Infrastructure is looking to recruit a Senior Quantity Surveyor to work on our Suffolk Highways contract. Suffolk Highways is a new contract secured by Milestone in 2023 for up to 20 years. We are responsible for delivering a wide range of highway maintenance and improvement activities to Suffolk County Council. You will enable us to meet our key contract aim of ensuring high quality highway services are delivered for the benefit of residents, businesses, and highway users in Suffolk.
As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will be part of our commercial team who are responsible for supporting the contract in all commercial matters and working with operational teams to ensure all commercial objectives are delivered.
As a Senior Quantity Surveyor your responsibilities will include:
Providing the commercial function across projects to ensure successful project delivery. Working within a team of talented professionals ensuring co-ordination and provision across all aspects of project delivery. Undertaking pre-contract setup, including forecasting, measurement, sub-contract tendering and procurement (including drafting to negotiating various forms of subcontract). Effectively managing the commercial aspects of the project (or a section of a project) including valuations / applications, budget monitoring, material / plant reconciliation and contract variations / compensation events and change. Preparing, managing and negotiating the agreement of Final Accounts. Procurement and management of subcontract packages, as well as supporting other members of the commercial team in the management of subcontract packages. Producing and maintaining, and assisting others in producing and maintaining, project forecasts to support the monthly commercial and financial reporting procedures. Assessing, reviewing and mitigating commercial and contractual risks. Maximising cashflow through the control and valuation of works, invoicing and payment process. Managing the commercial team to ensure delivery of above items and develop their knowledge. Providing support and training for site staff on commercial issues. Ensuring compliance with all legal requirements, including contractual and legislative. Ensuring compliance with Milestone standards and procedures in respect of commercial activities. Assisting with control of project documentation. Ad hoc duties as job requires. Skills & Knowledge Requirements for a Senior Quantity Surveyor
Degree / HND qualification in Quantity Surveying or other relevant subject. Registered with the RICS / CICES and working towards professional chartership. Strong level of identifiable commercial experience within the construction industry as a Senior QS or QS. Demonstrable experience of working on Highways and Civil Engineering projects. Strong working knowledge of NEC3/4 suite of contracts. Good command and communication of oral and written English. Skilled negotiator and communicator. Good people and organisational skills. Proficient in the use of MS Office (i.e., Excel) and other computer skills. About The Company
