Vertex Minerals Limited is a gold mining company with a focus on redeveloping the Reward Gold Mine at Hill End NSW. The Project is in the central west of NSW, Australia, between the major regional centres of Bathurst and Mudgee, and is approximately 200km WNW of Sydney. The processing plant is presently under construction with commissioning expected in January 2025. About the role….In the position of Environmental Advisor you will report to the General Manager and be responsible for monitoring and assessing environmental conditions and promoting sustainable practices. The Company is committed to achieving the best possible environmental performance for the operation and minimising the potential impacts on the environment and local community.Whilst you will be reporting to the General Manager, in terms of your day-to-day work activities you will be taking direction and advice from the Company's Environmental Consultants who will have primary responsibility for developing and maintaining effective Environmental Management Plans and procedures and ensuring compliance with all local, state and federal regulations and requirements. The major objectives of our Environmental Management Plans are progressive rehabilitation, preventing contamination, maximising reuse and recycling opportunities, preserving cultural heritage and engaging community stakeholders.In terms of your role, the key responsibilities will include, but not be limited to, the following:Undertaking site monitoring programmes, sampling air, water, soil and noise, data collection and analysis, and reporting to ensure compliancePromoting within the workforce a high level of environmental awareness and compliance with environmental proceduresEnsuring that any waste products are appropriately managed and disposed ofConducting environmental inspections and audits to ensure compliance with legislative and licence requirementsIdentifying reuse and recycling opportunities and developing and implementing plans to realise these opportunitiesIdentifying environmental hazards, or potential hazards, and working with operating management to manage and prevent issues occurringProviding assistance in the preparation and lodgement of all statutory reportsWhilst you will primarily be involved in environmental matters, you will also be involved in providing support to the Safety & Training Coordinator and assisting and supporting OH&S and training activities.About you…..The ideal candidate should have completed a degree in environmental science or a similar field and be keen to develop a career in environmental management.
