The role
As a UX/UI designer, you'll play a key role in developing user centred digital experiences utilsing our design system, whether it's designing great websites and digital products or contributing components to the design system itself. You will be reporting to and learning from our Lead UX/UI designer, one of the leaders of UX/UI in Qld government.
Your role will also involve working closely with our content designers & digital producers, using your design skills to elevate web content and create engaging landing pages for strategies and plans (which avoid the proliferation of more websites). You will also work closely with our web developers, crafting detailed design specifications for the building of products/components and reviewing work from the dev team to ensure it meets our standards.
Key responsibilities include:
1. Actively participate as a member of a multidisciplinary team of online professionals to develop and deliver innovative digital solutions that enhance health outcomes for Queensland health system consumers.
2. Maintain an understanding of Queensland Health's digital channels and associated user behaviour and engagement.
3. Create UX/UI designs for websites, products and design system components utilising best practices.
4. Assist with the maintenance of the Design System including branding guidelines and quality standards.
5. Work closely with other designers and technical staff to ensure a smooth working relationship between design and development teams.
The successful person
You will have demonstrated:
6. Demonstrated experience in digital user interface design and user experience practices
7. Working knowledge of Figma and Adobe Creative Suite
8. Understanding of HTML and CSS would be desirable
9. Knowledge of design systems and their role in designing for organisations at scale (or willingness to work to these principles)
10. Strong communication and interpersonal skills and ability to work in partnership and build and maintain effective professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
