About the Role:
An exciting opportunity is presented to work within the Northern Adelaide Local Health Network as a Occupational Therapist within the Older Persons Mental Health Ward 1H.
The Older Persons Mental Health Service is a multidisciplinary service that consists of acute inpatient beds at the Lyell McEwin Hospital, Community Teams and Northgate House.
The Occupational Therapist works with a range of clients with a serious mental illness and those living with the complex behaviours associated with dementia. The Occupational Therapist adopts a sensory modulation approach to offer insight into an individual's level of functioning and provide non-pharmacological recommendations for reducing distress, to maximise functioning, and to enhance meaningful engagement.
AHP1 - The Occupational Therapist (AHP1) is accountable to the Nurse Unit Manager (Inpatient) for the provision assessment and treatment services for clients of Northern Mental Health, which aims to optimise health outcomes. The incumbent may rotate through a series of clinical services.
The Occupational Therapist applies clinical experience, increasing clinical knowledge and professional competence to plan, implement and evaluate comprehensive and integrated services to the needs of consumers of the Older Persons Mental Health inpatient units, NALHN.
The Occupational Therapist works under direct clinical supervision and may provide direction and support to allied health assistants and students.
AHP2 - The Occupational Therapist (AHP2) is accountable to the Senior Occupational Therapist for the provision of assessment and treatment services for consumers of NALHN which aims to optimise health outcomes.
Utilising a range of appropriate Occupational Therapy assessments and treatment approaches, for the planning, implementation and evaluation of both individualised and group programs.
The incumbent may rotate through a series of clinical services.
The Occupational Therapist applies clinical experience, increasing clinical knowledge and professional competence to plan, implement and evaluate comprehensive and integrated services to the needs of consumers of the Older Persons Mental Health inpatient units, NALHN.
The Occupational Therapist (AHP2) works under direct clinical supervision and may provide direction and support to allied health assistants / activity supervisors and students.
The AHP1/2 Occupational Therapist works collaboratively with the Allied Health multi-disciplinary team and liaises directly with medical, nursing staff of NALHN and with other community agencies.

You will work in partnership with the other members of the team within an aspirational organisational change process. To be eligible for this position, you must have a Appropriate Degree or equivalent qualification which entitles registration as an Occupational Therapist with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia.
