The Role
We are seeking an experienced Clinical Psychologist to support our athletes in maintaining a thriving state of wellbeing, connection, and mental health.
As an experienced operator, you will work quickly to build strong relationships based on trust with our players and staff.
The position will require a time commitment of 0.4 – 0.6 FTE and can be delivered through a consultancy arrangement alongside external clinical practice.
Key Responsibilities:
Support players to develop and maintain the psychological skills essential for their success in achieving program and personal objectives.
Monitor and manage player health and wellbeing needs, addressing issues and employing best practice tools and techniques.
Collaborate with key stakeholders, including the Club Doctor, to ensure a holistic approach to player wellbeing.
Support the development and facilitation of mental health and performance-related education.
Co-manage with the Club Doctor any players unable to play/train due to mental ill-health, concussion, and/or long-term injuries through return to play planning and coordinate interdisciplinary care planning in partnership with Club Doctors and external specialist providers.
Lead the psychological response for critical incidents to ensure trauma-informed and psychologically safe practices.
Ensure that the high-performance environment at the Club is safe, policy and legislation compliant, and conducive to player wellbeing.
What you will bring:
Experience: Minimum 3 years demonstrated experience and success working in sport with elite athletes and coaches.
Demonstrated experience in psychological assessment, diagnosis, and treatment.
Qualification: Registered psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia (PsyBA) and listed with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Authority (AHPRA).
Eligibility for full membership with the Australian Psychology Society.
