About the role
Join our team as a Management Accountant, where you'll provide critical accounting services to divisional business units within the Public Transport Authority (PTA). In this role, you'll coordinate, prepare, and monitor both operating and capital budgets, ensuring sound financial management across divisions. Key responsibilities include preparing, analysing, and presenting management reports and KPIs, managing creditor payments and invoicing, and maintaining corporate credit card transactions. Your role will be essential in facilitating accurate expense allocation and improving cost attribution structures, supporting strategic decision-making.
As a valued team member, you’ll contribute to the PTA’s annual business planning cycle, assist in preparing monthly financial reports, and participate in monthly divisional performance review meetings. Additionally, you’ll support compliance with the Financial Management Act and Australian Accounting Standards by preparing financial inputs for the Annual Report. This role requires a proactive approach to developing and monitoring accounting policies and performing ad hoc investigations and reporting. About You!
To excel in this role, you should possess:
* Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or Business, with extensive experience in management accounting, budgeting, and use of corporate accounting systems in an accrual-based environment.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively advise finance and non-finance stakeholders and build rapport with both internal and external parties.
* Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities, able to address complex management accounting issues within set constraints.
* Excellent planning and organisational skills, ensuring timelines are met consistently.

This is a three (3) year fixed term contract with the possibility of extensions and/or permanency, available for an immediate start. Initially this selection process will be used to fill the above vacancies, however it may also be used to appoint to similar positions that arise within the next 12 months.
