The facility provides the latest mass spectrometric instrumentation allowing for researcher-led exploration, identification, and quantification of proteins and peptides. Our team of experts utilise advanced proteomic technologies to facilitate the seamless translation of results to our collaborators, from experimental design and sample preparation to data analysis and statistics. We help researchers understand how proteins and their modified forms regulate biological processes and when altered or dysregulated, how they cause major human diseases such as cancer, neurodegeneration, and immune disorders. Our core technology focuses on mass spectrometry and the WEHI Proteomics facility is equipped with an Orbitrap Astral, Orbitrap Eclipse, Orbitrap Q-Exactive, two timsTOF Pro’s, Maxis II QTOF, Impact II QTOF, and MALDI MicroTOF.The Senior LC-MS Specialist manages, optimises, and oversees critical technical operations of the WEHI Proteomics Facility, including the maintenance of mass spectrometric infrastructure and project coordination, aiming to deliver accurate, reliable, and timely results for diverse samples, including intact proteins and peptides. This role will leverage specialist knowledge in LC-MS ensuring the platform runs seamlessly whilst simultaneously advancing and adapting new workflows for routine use. With an emphasis on knowledge transfer, they will provide expert advice to colleagues, clients, and stakeholders, ensuring the facility runs efficiently, upholds rigorous research standards, and maintains a collaborative, well-supported research environment.Selection CriteriaEssential Knowledge and Skills:Minimum formal qualification: Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related field (preferably with proteomics experience/background).
