About the role
We are currently seeking a full time Shore Based Engineer - Fabricator Welder to join our Shore Based Maintenance Team. Reporting to Engineering Manager, the Shore Based Fabricator Welder is responsible for assisting in the mechanicals with vessel repairs and servicing of vessels, pontoon, vehicles, tenders, outboards, air-conditioning, refrigeration, lighting, davits and lifting systems. Following scheduled maintenance programs, rectification works, completing servicing as outlined and recording details for administration purposes.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
* Perform fabrication work in accordance with scheduled maintenance and rectification works.
* Operation of welding equipment to assist with scheduled maintenance programs for all mechanical, steel/metal structures, sullage systems and safety equipment
* Assist with the maintenance of generators, emergency steering and firefighting systems to ensure compliance
* Diagnose system problems when they occur and ensure faults are repaired as soon as possible
* Ensure all maintenance requirements and rectification works are recorded in the vessel maintenance logbook
* Maintain accurate logs and work orders through to job completion and sign off
* Control and record stock removed from stores and
* Completion of ad hoc maintenance tasks and repairs
* Accurately maintain logs and work orders through to job completion and sign off
* Adherence with SOPS, Marine Memos, operational procedures and WHS requirements
* Ensure all qualifications are kept up to date and provided to HR
* Remain adaptable and acceptable to change while working autonomously
* A daily maintenance report sheet must be completed and forwarded to the office for filing
* Ensure manager is advised when maintenance shed stock is low to assist in it being always stocked
About you
The successful candidate will be highly skilled and experienced with a strong marine industry background. You will thrive in a fast-paced environment and be comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions. You will have strong problem-solving skills and mechanical aptitude. Be team-oriented with a positive, adaptable “can do” attitude.
To be successful in this role you will be someone who:
* Maintain high levels of marine safety and compliance – Ensure all training and certificates are up to date
* Always maintain a thorough and complete onboard job completion log after completion on any job
* Take proactive remedial action to maintain looks and appearances of the vessels internal and external spaces.
* Safety first and be risk adverse
* Interactive use of HELM (Asset Management System) and timely upkeep of maintenance requests
* Clean and tidy in all aspects
* Proactive in finding and remedying any onboard issues with the vessels
Requirements
* Trade qualifications as a Welder / Boiler maker
* Extensive aluminium fabrication and welding experience preferably within the Boat Building / Marine industry
* Open Manual Drivers Licence
* HLTAID011 Provide First Aid & Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation
* Working at Heights
* Working in confined spaces (desirable)
* Forklift Licence (desirable)
