We are truly a challenger brand, with challenger spirit.We are looking for the role of a Sales Director, Mid-Market who is responsible for driving growth, acquisition, and retention across a national portfolio of strategic Mid-Market customers.
This includes managing a team of approximately 10 Sales Executives to deliver ICT solutions, accelerate revenue growth, and transition new customers into long-term account management.
The role is focused on improving sales opportunities, developing customer relationships, and elevating select accounts to the Strategic Accounts portfolio.
A key aspect of this role is effective territory planning, customer engagement at the C-level, and building credibility for Optus as a challenger ICT and telco provider.Apart from generating revenue, the Sales Director leads all aspects of planning for account and territory management, opportunity execution, and customer success.
The role requires close collaboration with cross-functional teams including service management, consulting, sales specialists, and delivery resources to ensure coordinated and effective customer solutions.
With a strong focus on acquisition and expansion, the Sales Director is accountable for customer satisfaction and will be instrumental in driving large, strategic opportunities and building industry-specific solutions to deliver long-term value.Your day in the life of a Sales Director, Mid Market Strategic Accounts at OptusDeliver on Sales and Customer Experience Targets : Lead strategic planning and sales activities across states to achieve revenue, mobile net adds, and customer satisfaction goals, while ensuring accurate forecasting and compliance across all reporting and account management activities.Drive a High-Performance Sales Culture : Foster a high-engagement atmosphere through building a positive team culture with clear performance standards, together with continuous improvements in team morale, leading to outstanding sales outcomes.Lead Acquisition and Growth Strategies : Work closely with Sales Executives Relationship Managers to implement acquisition, retention, cross-sell and share-of-wallet strategies tailored to customer needs, spend profiles and business opportunities.Develop Industry Insight and Market Positioning : Stay ahead of market trends and competitor activities, collaborating across Optus divisions and with vendors to craft strategic market positioning and develop industry-relevant solutions.Hire, Develop and Retain Top Talent : Build and maintain a strong sales talent pipeline, manage performance proactively, and build development plans to support capability uplift and succession planning.Embed Sales Excellence and Methodology : Mentor teams in best practice sales processes, tools, and methodologies while ensuring full participation in sales training programs to drive consistency and success.Manage National Sales Operations : Lead all aspects of Mid-Market sales operations across Australia, including collaboration with SingTel executives to support cross-border growth and ensure effective delivery of national sales programs and revenue growth.Your skills to pay the billsExtensive Sales and Leadership Experience : 10–15 years in strategic/relationship-based selling, with a minimum of 7–10 years in IT or Telecommunications sales management, including 3+ years at a leadership level.Proven Sales Success : Demonstrated track record in driving acquisition strategies, building long-term customer relationships, and achieving consistent revenue growth within mid-market or enterprise segments.Relevant Education : Tertiary qualifications in business, with post-graduate business studies and/or qualifications in IT or Telecommunications viewed favourably.Strategic Leadership and Change Enablement : Strong capability to lead with a future focus, build organisational effectiveness, champion change initiatives, and align systems and processes to drive performance.Customer-Centric and Commercially Astute : Deep focus on customer and partner engagement, paired with sound commercial foresight and the ability to identify, create and deliver high-value solutions.People Development and Influence : Skilled in coaching, mentoring and influencing across all levels, with the ability to foster innovation, manage complexity, and drive high-performing, engaged teams.Perks we love at Optus3 days in the office, 2 days remote – with flexible hours to suit!Inclusive paid parental leave, up to 14 weeks for the primary care giverAll Optus employees have access to resources, webinars and support via the 'Parents at Work portal'Own your own growth by accessing an extensive online and facilitator led learning catalogue.Connect at work through our employee-led volunteer groups: Culture Connect, Elevate Women, Disability Network, Express Yourself (LGBTQIA+), United Veterans, Yarn Network, Wellbeing Network and Young Professionals.Vibrant campus life, variety of facilities including restaurants, cafes, gymnasium, GP, and post officeFree Optus bus from Macquarie University Metro Station (every 6-8 minutes); morning and afternoon!Keen to see what it's really like to work at Optus?
