East Butler Primary School (PS) is an Independent, Level 5 primary school in the North Metropolitan Education Region. Since its opening in 2007, the school has provided a quality education to the children of families residing in the eastern area of Butler.

The Role
As an Education Assistant – Special Needs, you will ideally assist the teacher with the implementation and delivery of planned educational programs. You should also ideally assist with implementing individual student or small group programs. Suitable applicants will preferably possess initiative and the ability to take small groups of children for explicit instruction to scaffold or extend their learning. You will ideally be organised and able to use your initiative to assist the teacher with the general care and well-being of students with special emotional, academic and/or physical needs and maintenance of the learning environment.

6. Demonstrated good written and oral communication skills, including the ability to interact with students with special needs, parents and teaching professionals on the provision of educational programs, and to assist teachers in understanding students where necessary.
7. Demonstrated good interpersonal skills, including the ability to work as part of a team in the evaluation of educational programs, including special education and therapy programs where these have been implemented.
8. Demonstrated good organisational skills that will assist in the delivery and development of effective education programs to students and subsequent feedback to teaching professionals or psychologists.
9. Demonstrated ability to assist teachers or therapists in implementing educational programs, including special education and, should this be a requirement of the position, occupational and/or physiotherapy programs.
10. Demonstrated knowledge of health and physical disabilities in students and adolescents.
11. Demonstrated ability to assist with general health and well-being of students.
