Key accountabilities:
Taxation and Compliance (Prepare and submit Business Activity Statements (BAS) and other tax-related documents)Process ImprovementAccounts Receivable and Payable (assist where required)Project Administration (Expense re-imbursements and project expense entry)Payroll Processing (fortnightly pay processing and management of all payroll data)Compliance and Reporting (including all indirect taxes and superannuation)Employee Records ManagementCustomer Service and Communication (payroll related queries)System Management (payroll software)Confidentiality and SecurityTeam Collaboration (Work closely with HR, finance, and other departments)Fraud Prevention: Adhere to controls that prevent fraud and errors in the payroll process.Cyber Security: Compliance to Fraud Detection and Prevention Policy.Adherence to Position Description Task List.About You:
In this role you will manage multiple priorities in an ever-changing environment.
You will provide the following skills and experience in the role:
Education: Certificate IV in Accounting and Bookkeeping (minimum requirement) or Diploma or Advanced Diploma in Accounting (preferred).Years of Experience: Typically, 2-5 years of experience in bookkeeping or accounting roles is required.Duties: Experience in managing general ledger entries, handling accounts receivable and payable, reconciling bank statements, and preparing financial reports.Relevance: Experience in the same or a similar industry can be advantageous, as it demonstrates familiarity with the specific financial processes and regulatory requirements of that sector.Taxation: Hands-on experience with preparing and lodging Business Activity Statements (BAS), understanding GST requirements, and other taxation obligations in Australia.Compliance: Familiarity with Australian financial regulations, payroll tax laws, and superannuation requirements.Software Experience: Proficiency in commonly used accounting software such as MYOB, Xero, QuickBooks, or similar. Experience in using these tools to manage financial transactions, payroll, and reporting.System Integration: Experience in integrating various financial systems or tools for streamlined processes.Payroll Processing: Experience in managing payroll, including calculations, tax deductions, superannuation contributions, and compliance with Australian employment laws.Financial Reporting Experience: Experience in preparing financial statements, management reports, and conducting financial analysis.Financial Auditing: Experience in assisting with or preparing for financial audits, whether internal or external.Issue Resolution: Experience in identifying and resolving discrepancies or inefficiencies in financial processes.Process Improvement: Proven experience in suggesting and implementing improvements to bookkeeping or accounting practices.Skills
Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy in processing transactions, reconciling accounts, and handling customer payments.Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with customers, colleagues, and other stakeholders.Analytical Skills: Ability to analyse customer accounts, monitor payment trends, and identify potential issues with receivables.Time Management: Efficiently managing time to handle invoicing, collections, and reconciliations within deadlines.Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in accounting software and Excel, including using formulas, and data analysis tools.Problem-Solving: Strong problem-solving skills to address issues such as payment discrepancies, disputes, and overdue accounts.Knowledge of applicable regulations and legislation: Familiarity and compliance with Australian Tax Office requirements.Planning: Well organised, pragmatic, and able to manage a diverse and complex workload.If you are interested in switching to a company that offers
