The Ceduna Office of the Department for Child Protection (DCP) needs Aboriginal staff. We are looking for two confident individuals who want to make a difference to their community as Aboriginal Family Practitioners or Senior Family Practitioners.
DCP recognises the strength and resilience of Aboriginal people as the oldest living culture. The Ceduna DCP Office needs Aboriginal staff to build and maintain strong relationships with children, families, and the communities.
Staff working for DCP ensure their case management work uses the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Child Placement Principle. This is vital in ensuring children and young people are connected to family, community, country, and culture. The successful candidates will play a crucial role in linking Aboriginal children and young people with DCP services and partner services, including health, education, and housing.
In this role, you will build strong relationships with children and families to enhance cultural connections. A key part of your work will be to collaborate with other community organisations, government agencies, and service providers to ensure holistic support. You will help organise and actively participate in community events, workshops, and meetings. Additionally, you will take an active role in promoting cultural awareness and understanding both within the office and throughout the broader community.
The department supports staff to undertake further study within worktime, by supporting study leave. This allows employees to gain qualifications to increase their skills. DCP provides on-the-job training.

Special Conditions
Essential Qualifications: A degree level qualification in Social Work which gives eligibility for full membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers.
Persons of Australian Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent, who have the appropriate background and skills but do not have the essential qualification, may apply for and be engaged/assigned to the role of Social Worker and will be entitled to apply for any Allied Health Professional roles requiring a qualification in Social Work within DCP.
Pursuant to Section 56(2) of the Equal Opportunity Act, 1984 only people of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Descent may apply for this role.
