Our “Why”
Recovery Station exists to empower people to live a quality life. We believe in creating the ideal work environment for you because when you are happy, healthy, well-skilled and fulfilled, you're in the best position to have a positive impact on everyone around you.
Key Traits of Recovery Station:
* We love what we do because everyone's role contributes to helping our clients live a more independent, empowered life.
* Collaborating with passionate, likeminded colleagues creates connection and facilitates personal and professional growth.
* Keeping personalised care at the heart of what we do challenges us to seek new and innovative ways to deliver life-changing service.
Joining Recovery Station means aligning with a company that believes in empowering you and your future.
The Role
As a community-based role, we predominantly see our clients either in their homes, group homes, aged care facilities or in a public setting that's relevant for them, e.g., in a café to test out some new AAC. We want to see our clients where they are most comfortable whilst also giving you a diverse role full of variety and learning opportunities.
Some of our team schedule a full day of seeing clients one day, then balance this with a work from home day or an office day to write reports, prepare resources, have supervision/training. Or you can mix things up depending on how you like to work.
A community role is great as it allows you to have genuine flexibility and control over how you structure your days, so you don't miss your afternoon sport or being able to drop the kids to school in the mornings/pick them up in the afternoons!
Logistically, we have a waterfront office in Toronto with convenient free parking, and the role can be structured as full-time or part-time. Depending on where you are based, we can tailor your caseload to service clients around Maitland/Newcastle or Lake Macquarie. You will have someone assigned to you in admin to assist with scheduling appointments and they will work with you to ensure you aren't zigzagging around and you'll have clients to see close to home.
If you are a Senior or Supervisor who would like to complement managing your own caseload with leadership responsibilities, we are happy to discuss this as we have a team of experienced clinicians and new grads who would always love to welcome another knowledgeable, experienced Speechie!
We are also currently supporting clinicians relocate to Australia and register with SPA, so reach out and ask about it!
Qualifications
* Approved qualification in Speech Pathology and SPA registration.
* Current driver's license with use of own vehicle.
* NDIS Workers Screening and WWCC.
How We Make an Impact
Recovery Station provides community and clinic-based allied health services, with a strong focus on disability and senior health. For nearly 20 years we have consistently grown and now proudly offer support to people with diverse needs across the Greater Hunter, Central Coast, Sydney, and Illawarra regions.
Together, our passionate, multidisciplinary team of OTs, Mental Health OTs, Psychologists, Speech Pathologists, Physiotherapists, Exercise Physiologists, Dietitians and Allied Health Assistants collaboratively share their knowledge and experience to holistically design an individualised service to help improve the quality of life for people living with a disability or looking to age as independently as possible.
Who Your Work Helps
The caseload is people over 16 years of age, and includes those with a range of disabilities (e.g., intellectual disability, Autism, Down Syndrome), neurological events (e.g., stroke, acquired brain injury, brain tumour), and degenerative disease (e.g., Parkinson’s Disease, Motor Neurone Disease, Huntington’s Disease, dementia).
You will service individuals with complex needs in the community and within group homes (including speech, language and swallowing assessments and therapy, mealtime management plans).
You will have the opportunity to provide assessment, therapy, and management to clients with a range of speech pathology diagnoses including: non-verbal, dysphagia, dyspraxia, aphasia, pragmatics, and voice clients.
The skills you will develop and demonstrate in the role:
* A high level of professional judgement and knowledge to provide a wide range of speech and language supports to adolescents and adults with a variety of needs.
* Assess the communication and mealtime management abilities of the client utilising a range of assessment techniques and tools.
* Design intervention plans that are holistic, client-centric, and outcomes-driven.
* Provide support and assist clients, carers, and families with the implementation of intervention plans and programs.
With our training and support, you will become confident in developing care plans and writing comprehensive reports based on your clinical understanding, completing various clinical assessments and implementing appropriate interventions to address prioritised needs.
How We Foster a Positive Team
We strive to provide an environment that allows you to bring what makes you unique and special to work every day.
* We value flexibility so you can fit us in around your personal life, e.g., family, sport, other work.
* You deserve remuneration that matches your experience plus the option to stretch for RDO’s and financial bonuses if you choose.
* We trust you to work from home, or in the office, via telehealth and we give you a laptop and pay a phone/data allowance to support this + laundry allowance and uniform.
* A member of our administrative team will assist you with scheduling your appointments efficiently to minimise travel, to make calls and take messages for you whilst you're in sessions and to assist with the maintenance of compliance documentation, such as setting up and adjusting funding plans.
* Travel is reimbursed at $0.99/km + tolls and parking at appointments.
* Novated leasing options.
* Discounted Health Insurance for you and your family.
* An Employee Assistance Program is available to provide external, confidential support.
* To celebrate success and bring us together as a team, we have a fun wellbeing program that involves monthly social events such as our Mental Health Games, cooking and art classes, trivia, barefoot bowls or wheelchair basketball.
* Your thorough Orientation will be supported by ongoing one-on-ones with your Supervisor to discuss goals personal to you via a CPD plan. For example, do you want to learn about AAC or servicing Neuro clients or receive more tailored leadership training? This is when you can chat about what you'd personally like to achieve.
* These will be coupled with team meetings with your fellow speechies so you can learn during in-service sessions, share ideas, resources and stay abreast of any industry updates.
* We love facilitating development pathways for clinicians seeking career progression and added responsibility via either supervising students/grads/junior staff, increased complexity of caseload, or involvement in management procedures depending on what avenue you'd like to explore.
* Two days paid CPD leave per annum to access external training courses.
* Formal and informal liaison opportunities with other members of our multi-disc team to broaden your clinical knowledge and provide holistic care to our clients.
* All-company training day where we bring the entire business together and invite external presenters for each discipline.
