The Role
The Barossa Hills Fleurieu Local Health Network has moved to a Consumer Directed Care model for the provision of aged care, disability and support services.
The Community Support Worker is integral to supporting this model of care by providing services including personal care, cleaning, meal preparation, transport and social support, to persons who are aged, frail or disabled and who wish to remain living in their own home with some assistance.
Community support workers need to be flexible, conscientious and empathetic and be able to work autonomously in the community. They will work closely and collaboratively with the consumer, their family and other health professionals, to provide quality outcomes and maintain consumer independence where possible.

Eligibility & Requirements
The successful applicant must be contactable by telephone, flexible and willing to participate in a 5-day roster working varied hours/shifts across different setting, including weekends as required. The position is primarily located on Kangaroo Island but the successful applicant may be required to work from other sites and/or facility within Barossa Hills Fleurieu and Kangaroo Island area.
A current driver’s license is also essential, as is a willingness to drive on country roads and access to a reliable, registered and insured (min. of third party insurance) motor vehicle.
Prior experience working with Aboriginal consumers is essential, as is the ability to engage with the aboriginal community/consumers in a culturally appropriate manner and a willingness to undertake further training in this manner.

5. Certificate III in Individual Support (Aged Care, Disability or Home and Community)
6. Certificate IV in Disability
