You will support clinicians by providing accessible information and resources for decision-making, and mentor existing and new clinical coders, including newly qualified trainees.The Role:Develop and undertake regular clinical coding quality audits in accordance with the Agency’s Clinical Coding Auditing Framework.Provide clinical coding training and education activities to the Clinical Coding team, as well as support and mentoring to team members, including trainee clinical coders.Prepare and deliver clinical coding related education and training activities to the Clinical Coding team.Assist the Clinical Coding Management Team with the provision of clinical coding, DRG and activity-based funding education to clinical and other hospital staff, as required.Undertake accurate and timely clinical coding of inpatient separations in accordance with Hospital, State and Commonwealth data standards and reporting requirements, for the purposes of:Australian Refined Diagnosis Related Group (AR-DRG) assignment for Activity Based Funding (ABF).Inpatient activity reporting.Clinical and non-clinical research and casemix analysis.Patient care quality improvement.Adhere to the Independent Health and Aged Care Pricing Authority (IHACPA) guidelines while utilising the current edition of the International Classification of Diseases, 10th Revision, Australian Modification (ICD-10-AM), Australian Classification of Health Interventions (ACHI) and Australian Coding Standards (ACS).The Team:Health information professionals in the Health Information Management Service provide a unique service by integrating clinical and patient information, safeguarding patient information while ensuring it is accessible and of the highest quality.The THS Clinical Coding team is responsible for the accurate and timely classification of public inpatient episodes of care across Tasmania, coding a diverse casemix drawn from multiple hospitals.Our team upholds the Department of Health Values of ‘Compassion’, ‘Accountability’, ‘Respect’, and ‘Excellence’ (CARE), fostering an inclusive and welcoming culture.Details of appointment:Multiple, permanent, full-time and part-time, day worker positions, working up to 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.*Notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full-time, part-time, and casual vacancies.Salary:$98,255 to $103,069 pro rata per annum + our Employer 11.5% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.Benefits available to eligible candidates:Regular ongoing training and development.Professional development and accelerated pathways.A range of leave entitlements, including study leave and Professional Development Support.Fitness Passport – access to 40+ fitness facilities across Tasmania for a nominal fee.Applicants should note the following criteria are desirable:Clinical coder certification as approved by the Health Information Management Association of Australia.Certificate IV in Training and Assessment or equivalent qualification.Application Process:We encourage you to review the Statement of Duties and Applicant Guide prior to applying for an overview of the duties, program, selection process, and application guidance.Apply Online.
