The Position
This position is fully funded by the Australian Research Council (ARC) Centre of Excellence for the Weather of the 21st Century. The Centre is a major seven-year initiative funded by the Australian Research Council. It is a consortium of 24 partners led by Monash University in partnership with The University of Melbourne, The University of New South Wales, The Australian National University, and the University of Tasmania. The Centre’s team-based research is focused on how Australia’s weather is being reshaped by climate change. The Centre conducts blue-sky research with real-world applications for communities, industry and government.
The Research Software Engineer will be a member of Research School of Earth Sciences (RSES). RSES is Australia’s leading academic research institution for Earth and Marine Sciences, and ranked 11th in the world for Earth and Marine Sciences (QS World University Rankings by Subject 2023). The Person
The Research Software Engineer will provide the specialist technical expertise to support computational research and model development across the CoE for 21st Century Weather. The successful candidate will be at the Research School of Earth Sciences (RSES), and will contribute to the development, optimisation, and deployment of software and workflows that enable climate and weather research utilising high-performance computing, visualisation and big-data approaches.
Your ability to lead by example, coupled with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, will enable you to foster respectful and productive working relationships with staff, students and colleagues at all levels within RSES in line with the RSES Culture Statement.
