THE ROLE
This is an exciting role in an established technical consulting team supporting a rapidly growing ASX-listed company.
We are looking for a Principal Structural or Materials Engineer with 10-15 years' experience consulting in the assessment, protection, repair and service life extension of infrastructure and buildings.
This role will see you work with new technology and use your innovative thinking to deliver solutions and contribute to the overall success of the business.
The Principal Consulting Engineer will work with an existing team of consulting engineers and is responsible for contributing to the successful delivery, profitability and strategic growth of our technical services through alignment with the company’s values, technical excellence and supporting business development. The role will involve technical review, supervision, guidance and mentoring of staff, and contribute to the growth of the team.
The primary aspects of the role include:
* Civil infrastructure and building condition assessments
* Author and review technical reports
* Lead the preparation of repair designs and specifications
* Site inspection, testing and analysis
* Materials durability assessments and planning
* Asset maintenance strategies
* Supporting our remediation contracting division
* Working with our Spatial division to deliver 3D reality asset models for digital delivery of condition assessments and defect management
* Prototype and trial innovative technology solutions to help deliver value to our company and clients
* Help to lead the digitisation of the business workflow by adopting and utilising new software
* Project Management of technical projects
* Proposal writing and business development
* Client relationship management
There will be a requirement for typically short-term travel to sites and other offices to fulfill project and business requirements. The role will be based in our office in Melbourne.
ABOUT YOU
You have relevant experience in a similar role with specific experience in the inspection and assessment of concrete/steel structures.
You have experience with business development and can build positive relationships with clients and understand their needs and expectations. You are proactive and can assess situations to identify potential issues and suggest solutions. You have a combination of technical and practical experience to consult on condition and remediation. You have high attention to detail and pride yourself in your written and verbal communication skills.
Minimum Qualifications
* Relevant tertiary qualification in Civil / Structural or Materials Engineering, or related field;
* Relevant experience of 10-15 years enabling you to have developed a range of knowledge and skills;
* Experience in technical supervision and mentoring of staff.
