Position Overview Calian is seeking a Nurse Practitioner to add to our clinical team working CFB Esquimalt in Victoria, BC. This is a full-time opportunity. The Nurse Practitioner functions as an essential member of the health care team in the provision of comprehensive, multidisciplinary, collaborative primary health care services to Canadian Armed Forces members. These services include primary care, occupational, minor trauma care, health promotion, prevention of diseases and injuries, rehabilitation, and support services. Responsibilities Performs comprehensive health assessments using sound clinical judgment, diagnostic and therapeutic skills. Practices autonomously and is solely accountable for his/her actions while practicing. Consults with physicians or other health care professionals when the client's condition requires care beyond the scope of NP practice. Makes appropriate medical employment limitation recommendations in accordance with the Surgeon General's guidelines. Prescribes medications and orders x-rays, ultrasounds, and lab tests in accordance with the Standards of Practice for RNs in the Extended Class. Implements strategies to promote health and prevent illness with individuals, families, or groups. Collaborates on the management of members with stable chronic illnesses (such as diabetes, hypertension, dyslipidemia, and asthma) through a predetermined referral process. Refers patients to other providers or programs according to the patient's need. Qualifications Licensed and in good standing with British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives. Basic Life Support for Health Providers or CPR/AED Level C. Additional Requirements You will be able to obtain a Government Security Clearance at the Reliability level.
