Reporting directly to the Head of Reinsurance & Appointed Actuary, you will engage in face-to-face interactions with reinsurers while overseeing the detailed administration of contracts and agreements. This balance between client-facing responsibilities and meticulous contract management will be essential for your success and the success of our team. As part of our small, collaborative team, you will connect with the broader Actuarial and Analytics department. Your participation in the Australian Actuarial Forum and attendance at bi-weekly meetings with our CEO and group CEO—both seasoned actuaries—will provide you with valuable insights and networking opportunities. Ways of working We welcome applications from candidates based in Sydney or those considering a relocation to the area. Our hybrid working model requires in-office attendance from Tuesday to Thursday. Key priorities Address strategic requests from brokers, reinsurers, and senior management, while coordinating communication and engagements to develop effective reinsurance placement strategies aligned with Youi's Product Disclosure Statements (PDS). Facilitate the drafting, review, and finalisation of reinsurance contracts, manage marketing materials for the renewal process, and coordinate travel itineraries for related trips. Oversee reinsurance treaty performance, including claims payments and backup coverage needs, while ensuring compliance with management strategies and maintaining counterparty grades. Draft regulatory documentation for committee approval, conduct ad-hoc treaty reviews, and stay informed on regulatory changes and market trends, ensuring compliance with reporting requirements. Collaborate with the Actuarial department to support the execution of the Actuarial Control Cycle, keeping leadership informed on key reinsurance matters. Foster relationships with finance and risk stakeholders, leveraging leadership skills to share knowledge and develop talent, while identifying improvements to enhance the efficiency of reinsurance processes. About you Experience in providing reinsurance services within the general insurance sector (5 years is a general indicator). Relevant formal qualifications, e.g. Bachelor’s degree, ANZIIF, Accounting or Actuarial. Understanding of reinsurance accounting and APRA regulations preferred. Strong analytical skills. Excellent written and verbal communication abilities. Demonstrates a high level of integrity and professional accountability. Adaptable to change in a fast-paced environment. Proactive in identifying risks and opportunities. Willingness to take on supervisory responsibilities. Strong attention to detail and ability to perform under pressure.
