Trainee Animal Attendant at Kylie’s K9 Country Retreat
Do you love dogs and dream of working with them every day? Kylie’s K9 Country Retreat is looking for a Trainee Animal Attendant to join our dedicated team! This is the perfect opportunity for a school leaver or someone new to the industry who is eager to gain hands-on experience in animal care while studying.
This is a casual position with hours varying between 7am and 6pm. Penalty rates apply for weekends and public holidays.
About the Role:
You’ll receive on-the-job training to help you develop the skills needed to care for dogs in a professional setting.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Feeding, providing water, and monitoring the wellbeing of dogs in our care
2. Learning how to conduct basic health checks and assist with general animal husbandry
3. Supervising small groups of dogs and ensuring their safety during playtime
4. Cleaning and maintaining the facility to a high standard
5. Assisting with customer service, including check-ins and check-outs
6. Helping create fun photo and video content for pet owners
7. Assisting with bathing, drying, and basic grooming of dogs
What We’re Looking For:
1. A strong passion for animals, especially dogs (experience with pets at home is a bonus!)
2. A positive attitude and willingness to learn —no formal experience required
3. Good communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team
4. A reliable and hardworking nature, as the role can be physically demanding
5. Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with set routines and procedures
6. Must be enrolled or willing to enrol in a Certificate III in Animal Attending or a similar vocational certificate
Requirements:
1. Must be available some weekends and public holidays, including the Christmas period
2. Must have a driver’s license and reliable transport
3. Must be comfortable working both indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions
4. A keen interest in pursuing a career in animal care
