Title:- Azure Cloud Engineer Length:- 12 Month FTC Location:- North Sydney, working on a hybrid model ROLE PURPOSE: Our organisation has undergone a significant IT transformation in recent years. This critical role will help drive our cloud strategy while remaining technical and hands-on. IT operates within a collaborative, agile environment, where skills, attitude, and cultural fit are all paramount. As part of the Infrastructure and Cloud team, you will be responsible for delivering IT and business projects, managing infrastructure across data centres and diverse cloud platforms, and developing mature operating models. This position will focus on the Wintel space, where you will take technical ownership of all server and systems infrastructure. You will provide technical leadership as a second-level escalation point for data centre and cloud technologies, help drive the adoption of Infrastructure as Code, and collaborate with engineering teams to deliver key outcomes. Developing methodologies, architecting solutions, and having the ability to script and integrate technologies is highly desirable. You will have a deep understanding of infrastructure and cloud technologies and coding skills to automate environment build and release processes. Additionally, you will work closely with cross-functional teams and business leaders, requiring strong interpersonal skills to build rapport and maintain excellent relationships. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & SUCCESS FACTORS: Customer Experience Support continuous improvement by ensuring both existing and new customer expectations are met or exceeded. Act as the "go-to" person for all technical cloud and infrastructure-related issues. Provide high-level system and process documentation as needed. Ensure the availability and performance of all infrastructure systems. Work independently towards tasks agreed upon with your line manager. Measures : Uptime of systems. Incident management: Time to resolution, aged incidents, resolution in line with compliance, and preventive measures. Successful project delivery. KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED FOR SUCCESS IN ROLE: Knowledge / Qualifications Formal tertiary qualifications in Information Systems / Computer Science. At least 5 years’ experience working in a hybrid model environment. Within the First 3 Months: Demonstrate an understanding of the organisation’s strategy and business enablers. Knowledge of industry-related regulatory guides and codes of practice. Understanding of the products and services offered. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Analytical thinking and good judgment. Essential Experience: Expert knowledge of Microsoft Technologies including Server 2019, 2022, AD, AAD, ADFS, DNS, DHCP, etc. Experience in building and managing cloud solutions on Azure and Office365, including: Enterprise applications, app registrations, app services, function apps, managed identities, networking, and Entra ID. Demonstrated experience with DevOps tools – GitHub, GitHub Actions, Slack, Infrastructure as Code, Terraform, Azure DevOps. Experience in security remediation, enforcement, and vulnerability management. Experience in designing and building backup and recovery solutions – Azure and Veeam. Knowledge and experience of ITIL service management concepts. Strong networking skills, with experience troubleshooting connectivity issues across cloud/inter-cloud connections, Cloudflare, Cisco routers, switches, and firewalls. Experience with shared storage and an understanding of iSCSI fundamentals. Desirable Experience: Knowledge of SDLC best practices. Experience in managing VMware vCentre and ESXi. Familiarity with monitoring tools such as PRTG and Azure Monitor. Experience using tools like JIRA, Confluence, and Kanban. Experience with automation. Certifications such as VMware VCP, Microsoft MCP, or Cisco CCNA. Understanding of APRA CPS234, PCI, ISO27001, and ASD Security Essentials. Degree qualified in Information Systems / Computer Science.
