The opportunityThe SKA Observatory (SKAO) is a next-generation radio astronomy facility that will revolutionise our understanding of the Universe and the laws of fundamental physics. Enabled by cutting-edge technology, it promises to have a major impact on society, in science and beyond.
In Australia, the SKAO is collaborating with CSIRO to operate and support the construction of the low frequency telescope (SKA-Low) in remote Western Australia on Wajarri Yamaji Country.
Under the collaboration agreement with SKAO, CSIRO is looking for a Verification Systems Engineer (Low System ITF Test Engineer) based in Geraldton, Australia. The Verification Systems Engineer will be responsible for carrying out integration and tests, for developing and/or coordinating the development of scripts and procedures, and for supporting the overall verification of the SKA-Low Telescope System Requirements.
Your duties will include:Integrate and maintain a subset of the Low Telescope (System Under Test) and its Test Environment at the Integration and Testing Facility (ITF) and on-site, developing, validating and performing procedures and scripts for automatic and remote testing and logging of the System Under Test.Provide technical expertise for evaluation, verification, and performance review of the System Under Test.Support the Low Telescope System Requirements verification in the ITF and on-site, coordinate with the AIV (Assembly Integration and Verification) Low Team workflows and procedures at the ITF and being followed on-site.Attend training provided by international suppliers and support the provision of technical training to the AIV Low Team, Science Commissioning and Operation users.Tenure: 2-year Specified Term – Full-Time, Part-Time or Job-Share
Reference: 99405 To be considered you will need:A relevant bachelor's degree or significant equivalent relevant work experience in Electronic, Systems or Software Engineering.Experience and understanding of Systems Engineering and Requirements Management principles and experience in their application in the integration, testing and verification of high technology projects.Demonstrated experience addressing hardware and software issues with suppliers, with the ability to identify and solve complex and novel technical issues through engineering analysis and out of the box thinking.Proven ability to communicate and effectively interact with senior technical experts.Strong team skills with a flexible approach and ability to readily adapt to change.Experience working effectively in a multicultural environment.Membership or eligibility in recognized systems engineering institutes.Experience in design verification, large-scale manufacturing, and Quality Assurance.Software development and integration for scientific projects.Knowledge of Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) and Configuration Management principles.Applications for this position are open to Australian/New Zealand Citizens, Australian Permanent Residents or you must either hold, or be able to obtain, a valid working visa for the duration of the specified term.
