Tennant Creek, Katherine & Northern Australia NTORGANISATIONAL CONTEXTPRIMARY PURPOSE AND FUNCTION OF THE ROLEThe Finance Manager role is a senior management level position, which will be responsible for the financial management of the organisation whilst overseeing the finance team.The Finance Manager will report to the Chief Executive Officer.Financial ManagementDevelop, review and improve organisational policies, procedures and work practices to ensure appropriate governance and effective operations across the organisation.Build financial capability across the organisation through specialist advice, recommendations, setting clear expectations and providing quality feedback.Manage budget process, ensuring structure meets needs of the management team and the Board, including profit and loss by grant program and cost centre, cashflow, balance sheet and capital budgets with accompanying analysis and reporting.Oversee preparation of monthly management reports, and end to end financial processing, including reporting of operational KPIs aligned to financial performance.Presentation of monthly management accounts to the management team and Board.Liaise with external auditor to facilitate audit process and prepare general purpose financial reports ensuring compliance with legislation and governing documents.Control and monitor cashflow requirements and forecasting through regular reporting, including oversight of Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and Capex.Maintenance of internal controls and financial procedures.Oversee the Grant administration process;Preparation and review of financial information for acquittal reporting.Support project business case and budget development and ensure ongoing project performance monitoring.Management of insurances and insurance renewal process.Ensure all Bank Reconciliations, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and Payroll processing is executed in a timely manner and is accurate.Maintain the Financial Assets Register and ensure Valuations of Property are up to date and in accordance with Australian accounting standards.Participate in and contribute to the Asset Management Plan.Ensure all transactions are duly recorded and ensure reconciliation of ledgers with the general ledger balances.LeadershipManage the finance team to ensure efficient processes, timely and accurate accounting functions and data integrity of the finance system is maintained.Provide specialist guidance and practical support to the team.Support and coach the team providing the necessary knowledge, guidance and direction, enabling the success and delivery of KPI’s and performance goals.Provide strong leadership, people development and support to the team.Hold quality conversations providing relevant and timely feedback and invest in the development of our people to build team capability.Build and maintain trusted relationships with personnel across the organisation.Minimum RequirementsDegree in Accounting or finance, plus CPA/CA/CFA qualified.Minimum five (5) years’ experience leading a finance team.Demonstrated experience in preparing financial reports, analysing and interpreting financial information and controlling a budget.Knowledge of grant funding recording and reporting mechanisms and accounting standards.Experience in the effective delivery of training in financial and budgetary processes.Extensive experience on accounting system and ability to adapt to a new system.Demonstrated ability to set priorities, meet deadlines, demonstrate attention to detail and maintain confidentiality in all activities.Demonstrated experience managing a team with the skillset to supervise, train and mentor staff to maximise their capability and efficiency within the team.An awareness of the application of the principles and practices of cultural sensitivity, workplace diversity, workplace participation and a safe working environment and an ability to apply them to work practices.Desirable - Experience working with Aboriginal Organisations or Communities, or similar government funded organisations.
