We are seeking a highly motivated Business Development Team Leader to join our Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) team in a full-time capacity. This position offers the flexibility to work remotely or within an office setting.
The successful candidate will collaborate with skilled and supportive colleagues across both local and international teams. Please note that this role requires a degree of flexibility with working hours to accommodate cross-time zone coordination and business needs.
About You
As the BD Team Leader, you bring a strong background in sales, corporate development, or software, along with proven experience in building, managing, and nurturing a robust pipeline of qualified opportunities. You excel at time management and have a track record of leading BDMs to consistently achieve and surpass their targets.
You are performance-driven, results-oriented, and detail-focused. With exceptional interpersonal skills and a confident, professional phone manner, you thrive as a proactive, energetic self-starter. Your collaborative mindset and leadership experience make you adept at guiding and motivating a team to succeed together.
Core Responsibilities: Build, own, and, with your team of BDMs, execute a strategy to grow our pipeline of quality M&A targets and generate opportunities to acquire the next great Vela APX business. Lead a high-performance team that rewards success and encourages continuous learning and improvement. Provide mentorship and professional development to team members, empowering them to achieve their full potential. Own a pipeline of vertical market software businesses that meet our strategic criteria and nurture long-term relationships with the C-suite executives, financial advisors, investment bankers, and private equity firms. Implement/Update team reporting metrics and KPIs to ensure strong processes that lead to pipeline growth and quality. Identify 'at-risk' accounts and develop action plans to mitigate the risk. Lead special projects as assigned by the Head of Acquisitions. Qualifications: 5+ years of experience working in sales, business development, relationships management, M&A and in B2B software/SaaS industry strongly preferred. Self-motivated, hands-on attitude with a sense of urgency towards generating a robust pipeline of qualified opportunities. Prior experience overseeing a high-performing team. Excellent planning, organization, and time management skills. Extensive CRM experience (ideally Salesforce) including generating reports and analysis. Strong communication skills (verbal & written) with an emphasis on relationship building. Flexibility with work hours and ability to travel (if required). Confidence, professionalism and integrity for frequent interactions with executives, business owners, investment bankers, lawyers, accountants, and other key stakeholders. Why join Vela APX?
