About the Role
We are seeking highly skilled Engineering Professionals to join our team within Navy Engineering Branch. As an APS 6 Engineer, you will be responsible for performing complex engineering and specialist work, ensuring compliance with legislative frameworks and Defence's mission and policy requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead a small team, setting work priorities and managing workflows
* Build team capability through coaching, feedback, and developing quality of work
* Exercise people and financial responsibilities to achieve work unit outcomes
* Engage with stakeholders on complex or difficult issues, identifying and responding to their needs and expectations
* Contribute to ongoing self-improvement and professional development
Disciplines:
* Electromagnetic Environmental Effects: Radio Frequency hazard and safety control, standards and practices
* Data Networks: Network design, implementation, and troubleshooting; network vendor certification
* Terrestrial Communications: Radio frequency propagation theory, practice, and standards, terrestrial communication system design, analysis and implementation
* Navigation Systems: System Engineering, Navigation systems, sensors (position, navigation, time), international rules regarding safety at sea and Collision Regulation compliance
* Satellite Communications: Satellite communication theory, practices and standards, satellite terminal design, installation and testing
* Remote Autonomous Platforms: Uncrewed systems, programming languages, application of standards, regulations, or policy to engineering systems
* Optronics: Laser systems, CCTV, Laser Safety and relevant standards and frameworks, optical system design and testing
* Sonar & Acoustic Intelligence: Systems Engineering, underwater acoustics and signal processing, oceanographic, sensor management, and sonar data analysis
* Electronic Warfare: Antenna and Propagation, Signal Processing, Remote Sensing, Computational Intelligence, and Model Based Systems Engineering
Requirements:
* Apply expertise and technology to deliver complex engineering services
* Analyse information, probe for clarity, produce solutions, make judgements, and think systemically
* Learn and understand rapidly, gather information, manage knowledge, and ensure an organisational learning approach
* Set objectives, plan and establish contingencies, manage time, resources, and people, and monitor progress
* Write clearly and succinctly, convince through writing, avoid jargon, and structure information
