Through ANZIC SEES is also involved in the International Ocean Discovery Program (IODP).The roleUQ has a well-established program in biological oceanography. SEES is working to expand UQ activity in other aspects of oceanography, both to complement existing activity and to develop links into earthand environmental sciences. We are now looking to expandour program in oceanography and marine geology through the appointment of a high calibre individual to generate new directions in research and teaching in either chemical or physical oceanography.SEES is seeking to fill a position in physical/chemical oceanography/ paleoceanography/ marine geology at Lecturer/Senior Lecturer/Associate Professor level. The position is offered as a Teaching and Research (T&R) role and the successful candidate will be expected to perform teaching, research and service and engagement duties. The appointee will be both expected and encouraged to develop an independent program of research.The personApplicants should possess a PhD or equivalent in a relevant field of physical/chemical oceanography/ paleoceanography/ marine geology. You should also be able to provide evidence of effective teaching practices and an ability to provide high level teaching and learning outcomes. Your track record should demonstrate outstanding contributions to research, including peer-reviewed publications in leading journals and a history of success in attracting funding through competitive grant schemes.The successful candidates will have an ability to establish effective relationships and to represent and promote academic discipline at a university and wider community level, including industry, government and professional bodies. Appointment at any given level within the Academic Level B-D range will be dependent upon the Selection Panel’s assessment of the individual’s track record and experience.Accessibility requirements and/or adjustments can be directed to the contact person listed in the job advertisement.RemunerationThis is a full-time, continuing appointment at Academic level B-D. The remuneration package will be in the below ranges, plus superannuation contribution of up to 17%.Level B will be in the range of $92,142 – $109,419 p.a., (total package will be in the range of $107,807 – $128,020 p.a);Level C will be in the range of $112,874 – $130,150 p.a, (total package will be in the range of $132,063 – $152, 276 p.a.);Level D will be in the range of $135,909 – $149,731 p.a., (total package will be in the range of $159,014 – $175,185).
