Reporting to the CEO, the Chief Risk Officer/ GM Risk and Compliance will play a critical senior leadership role in driving the fund's governance, risk and compliance strategy while balancing risk and regulatory demands with commercial results. The position has executive responsibility for overseeing the development and implementation of the fund's risk and compliance strategy, overseeing the enterprise-wide risk management operations, leading and developing a team and mitigating risks that could ultimately impact the retirement outcomes of the fund’s members.Job Description: This full-time, Melbourne-based role is an exceptional opportunity for an executive risk and compliance leader with deep experience within superannuation risk and compliance to support a dynamic and highly regarded CEO. You will be empowered to lead a capable risk and compliance team driving improvements in their risk and compliance operations while fostering closer collaboration amongst internal stakeholders while monitoring third-party risks with outsourced vendors. A diverse role that delivers oversight of risk and compliance to the business by providing commercially sound compliance and risk advice while challenging stakeholders to push the boundaries within regulatory risk guidelines to meet the strategy and vision of the executive leadership team (ELT).Key responsibilities:Lead and implement risk and compliance frameworks and strategies for the business;Collaborate with the regulatory, legal and broader external stakeholders including the outsourced vendor relationships to drive positive change outcomes;Accountable for the end-to-end management of relevant risk and compliance strategies, policies, and procedures;Mentor team members and implement performance plans for the team for continuous professional development;Be the fund’s superannuation risk & compliance Subject Matter Expert (SME) and the main point of contact for all regulatory and compliance matters;Develop and lead the team through an enterprise-wide uplift and GRC implementation;Promote a strong culture of risk awareness at all levels, collaborating with leaders across the organisation to embed risk management in business processes;Partner with the senior and executive leadership team (ELT) and liaise with the board;Offer advice and leadership to the team regarding risk and compliance to help develop an effective compliance culture; ANDExcellent ability to build rapport and partner with internal stakeholders.Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:Tertiary education, preferably with specialisation in finance, business, project management, risk and compliance management or law;Professional certification from relevant institutes highly regarded such as Governance Institute of Australia (GIA) or Risk Management Institute of Australia (RMIA) etc.;A deep background in superannuation is essential;Exceptional leadership abilities and strong influencing capabilities to drive outcomes and change initiatives;Strong project management skills and experience in delivering outcomes and continuous improvement initiatives preferred;Resolution to address challenging issues and promote a solutions-focused and realistic approach to risk management;5+ years of previous experience in a senior role as a Head of Risk and Compliance or a Chief Risk Officer is highly regarded; ANDComfortable with advising senior executives (ELT) and presenting to the board on strategic decisions.This is a rare opportunity for a Melbourne-based senior risk and compliance professional to work with a dynamic CEO to build and uplift the operational risk and compliance function of the fund.
