You will manage and oversee the development, coordination, and evaluation of operations and supporting functions for the region, assisting with strategies, implementation and plans to align with program priorities. You will work collaboratively across program streams and stakeholders to deliver standardised and integrated capabilities into operations. You will provide strategic advice for capability focused projects and monitor interdependences across multiple initiatives to facilitate the successful delivery of the program and support the operational capability of a new integrated marine rescue service.
Your key accountabilities
The core capability requirements for this role are:
• Support the development and implementation of the operational service delivery plan and provide strategic advice on associated response planning arrangements and programs.
• Lead and manage the delivery of operational outcomes in cooperation with volunteers in a dynamic disaster/emergency management or similar environment.
• Manage human resources, financial and asset management functions for the area effectively and ensure high quality support is provided to volunteers.
• Maintain working knowledge and practical application of the applicable legislation and guidelines.
• Drive and deliver outcomes in partnership with staff from local government, other government agencies, authorities, Indigenous communities and community groups to build capability and evaluate the effectiveness of programs.
• Support the delivery of community education and awareness programs in accordance with agreed community education strategic plans and represent MRQ as a member of Disaster Management Groups as required.
• Contribute to the development, delivery and implementation of operational and administrative policy, equipment and processes and facilitate post event analysis and debriefs for the region including the development of improvement strategies in building operational capacity and capability.
• Undertake and support operational duties during emergencies and disasters as necessary which may involve intra and interstate deployments including travel to rural and remote communities, at short notice and out of business hours.
Role Requirements
• Mandatory Possession of Open ‘C' Class Queensland Drivers Licence
• Qualification Certificate II Coxswain NC (Grade 1) equivalent or higher
• Technical/ Operational/ Educational experience Experience in Maritime Search and Rescue Organisations (national/international), or be willing to acquire formal search and rescue qualifications within six months of commencement.
Other
The incumbent may be required to participate in an out-of-hours on-call roster during emergency operations. This may require work outside of normal hours (e.g. night shift), including weekends, working extended hours and may include travel to rural and remote communities, intrastate or interstate travel as necessary and/or deployment activities to other parts of the state.
