The RoleJoint Proof & Experimental Unit (JPEU) is an integral part of Explosive Ordnance Branch within Joint Logistics Command, and is tasked to provide dynamic, static and environmental test and evaluation services to the Australian Defence Organisation. JPEU consists of two Ranges, Proof and Experimental Establishment (P&EE) Graytown VIC, and P&EE Port Wakefield SA as well as a Headquarters which is spread across both sites. We are seeking a dynamic and motivated person to perform the role of the Ammunition Inspector within the Explosive Ordnance Services Sections at Port Wakefield.In this exciting and challenging role you will work with explosive ordnance, including assisting with the management, accounting, storage, preparation, testing and disposal of explosive ordnance. This may include in service surveillance (ISS), breakdown activities and investigations. The team may carry out technical investigations of munitions. Employment at Port Wakefield attracts a Special Defence Locality Allowance of approximately $309.85 respectively per fortnight.About our TeamThe P&EE Port Wakefield team carries out Test and Evaluation activities for a diverse range of various calibre munitions and other explosive ordnance. They capture performance data of the munitions and provide that information to the customer.The EO Services Team is critical in this process as they provide explosive ordnance that have been prepared for dynamic and/or static functioning. This is to ensure that the specifications of the test plan are met to certify that activities are repeatable. The broader team utilise systems such as ballistic tracking radar, high speed video cameras and associated equipment to track the rounds or event when the explosive ordnance is dynamically fired or statically testing the munitions.The successful candidate will be able to work with other stakeholders (Range Operations, Range Services and Workshops) and provide the hands-on support required to process the explosive ordnance required for Test and Evaluation activities.Our Ideal CandidateThe successful candidate will have qualifications, knowledge and experience working with explosive ordnance. They will:Have strong interpersonal skills and be able to work with information technology to aid in the management and preparation of explosive ordnance for Test and Evaluation (T&E) activities.Be an excellent communicator and be able to influence decisions to achieve business outcomes.Be dynamic and keen to continuously improve systems and processes.The successful candidate will be able to use a wide range of tools to aid in carrying out their work such as Microsoft tools and IT systems. The right person for this role will show the flexibility to respond to the changing context and shifting priorities of JPEU.EligibilitySecurity ClearanceApplicants must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance of 'Baseline'.Mandatory QualificationsThis technical position requires the individual to have obtained a recognised Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) Level 4 qualification in a relevant technical domain or relevant skills and work experience such that an individual can reasonably achieve a recognised AQF qualification if required by the position.
