This includes managing supplier performance and costs while adhering to our Code of Conduct.
Key responsibilities include: Oversee and coordinate all Port & Cargo Operations activities for Wallenius Wilhelmsen-owned and operated vessels in Port Kembla, prioritizing safety, compliance, quality, and cost efficiency.Manage Cargo Handling Equipment, including stock control and reporting.Ensure all services are procured, planned, and ordered to meet the agreed service level, with follow-up as needed.Work closely with Trade Operations, Sales, ship officers/Captain, and other key internal stakeholders to ensure operations are safe, efficient, and compliant.Stay informed about relevant regulatory affairs, particularly those related to Biosecurity and AMSA, and share updates as needed.Consistently act in Wallenius Wilhelmsen's best interest by responsibly managing resources, assets, and the environment, in accordance with the Wallenius Wilhelmsen Code of Conduct.Coordinate and work with relevant regulators and public bodies, such as AMSA, DAFF, and the Port Authority, to ensure compliance.Knowledge and Skills Required: Shipping Knowledge: Strong understanding of RoRo vessels, including deck and ramp configurations, panel settings, load strengths, and axle weight limitations.Expertise in cargo stowage requirements, planning, and preparation of stowage plans.Knowledge of ship stability principles and their practical application.Ability to dissect and amend SPS cargo plans, ensuring accurate transfer between vessels and ports.Cargo Handling: Proficient in handling, stowing, loading, discharging, and ensuring quality standards for Auto, RoRo, and Break-bulk cargo.
Safety: Responsible for adhering to Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) legislation.Actively participate in SAFE teams and safety processes, particularly in high-risk terminal areas and aboard vessels.Lead by example in demonstrating and promoting safe work behaviors.Quality: Knowledge of quality assurance processes and safety operating procedures.Ability to follow up on corrective action plans and conduct root cause analysis for continuous improvement.To be successful in this amazing role you will have the following Qualifications & experience: Higher education in maritime, ADF, or related fields is desirable.Operational experience in the maritime, stevedoring, or port operations industry is preferred.Experience in supplier management, including both physical and administrative follow-up.Technically proficient, with strong problem-solving skills and IT capabilities.Ability to work independently and manage personal work/rest hours, especially when attending vessels.Strong business acumen, curiosity, and an innovative mindset.Outgoing personality, positive mindset, and professional communication skills at all levels.A valid Driver's License and the ability to obtain a Maritime Security Identification Card (MSIC).What next?
