Job Description
The University of Melbourne seeks a laboratory management professional to support the Western Centre for Health Research and Education (Western CHRE) and Northern Centre for Health Education and Research (Northern CHER). This role is responsible for managing laboratory operations, compliance, and safety programs, including purchasing, resource allocation, waste management, and licensing.
Main Responsibilities:
* Work with UOM/VU managers to ensure efficient and effective management of infrastructure and facilities within assigned areas.
* Ensure centre activities comply with relevant OHS legislation, statutes, regulations, and policies.
* Maintain strong relationships with other service delivery areas, schools, and departments to deliver effective OHS support.
Requirements:
* Undergraduate qualifications in a relevant discipline, such as science and OH&S.
* Extensive experience working in a scientific or medical laboratory environment and coordinating personnel in a matrix environment.
* Demonstrated knowledge of OGTR regulatory requirements and proven experience working in a PC2 containment facility.
* Excellent interpersonal skills and capacity to consult, influence, and build rapport with diverse groups of people.
