The Opportunity - CBO (Perth Based)
The Chief Basketball Officer (CBO) leads the delivery of Basketball Operations for BWA and is responsible for executive management of the Participation, Competition and High-Performance Departments.
The CBO is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day management of Basketball Operations (including people and WHS leadership, governance, financial and risk management) and is accountable for driving and delivering quality basketball competitions, growing basketball's pathways and continually improving WA's high-performance standards. The CBO will, represent BWA on various working groups, provide high level advice to the Board and CEO, and manage departments on appropriate strategies for the growth, development and continuous improvement of BWA run and operated Participation, Competition and High-Performance initiatives.
The Person - Your Skills and Experience
You will possess expert knowledge of the basketball landscape in Australia, and executive management experience within Sports Administration and/or Not-for-Profit membership-based organisations. High level and contemporary knowledge and management of running successful participation and pathway requirements, competitions (State and Country Championships, NBL1/equivalent), and high-performance basketball programs that compete and succeed at a national level.
You will be a decisive leader who can manage change, and lead, communicate, inspire and motivate staff and affiliated associations, participation and high-performance stakeholders relative to basketball, in the broadest sense. As a commercially astute and agile executive, you will lead your team of almost 30 with alignment to BWA's values, to help drive performance, outcomes and the success of both the Organisation and basketball in WA. Suitable candidates will possess relevant qualifications and experience aligned to this role.
