About the Role
As an Australian and Pacific Markets Desk Risk Manager in our Team, you’ll play a key role in helping to align with industry/regulatory expectations around conduct risk and front office supervision. The role will work with the heads of business in managing operational risk and compliance and ensuring good governance for the respective businesses. This is through application of group wide compliance and operational risk policies and frameworks, regulation and industry standards as well as the maintenance of an effective control environment to meet these requirements.

What will your day look like?
The Australian and Pacific Markets Desk Risk Manager is critical to making this happen and will:
• Pro-actively provide strategic risk management and compliance advice to the relevant businesses
• Work with the relevant businesses to minimise compliance breaches and operational losses
• Manage non-financial risk events, including investigation and root cause analysis and remediation
• Influence business leaders to own the risk transformation within their respective business areas
• Provide subject matter expertise, training, coaching, and/or guidance to support the business areas
• Develop and work with relevant stakeholders to ensure effective control environment and risk appetite adhered to
• Ensure that the local product and suitability requirements are well understood and advise the Heads of Businesses on how to conduct its business in a considered manner
• Identify and communicate trending risk issues for the businesses in order to enable proactive and strategic planning to manage risks
• Collaborate with the Senior Desk Risk Manager, Sales Australia, Pacific & Capital Markets to ensure the completeness of the country risk profiles and treatment plans
What will you bring?
To grow and be successful in the role, you will ideally bring the following:
• Strong experience and knowledge of Financial Markets and the environment that ANZ Markets operates in with demonstrated understanding of products, sales and trading
• Demonstrated ability to identify areas for risk management improvement
• Strong ability to execute and ability to influence stakeholders at all seniority levels
• Experience and knowledge of governance, compliance, regulation & operational risk management
• Is team focused and able to effectively manage, coach and mentor individuals to enhance staff engagement and build capability for their team
• Demonstrated ANZ leadership competencies including ability to manage and deliver change, exercise sound judgement, broaden perspective and build relationships (internal & external)
• Continuously challenge the status quo to improve the governance framework
• Demonstrated ability to question, challenge and improve policy, process and procedure based on researched knowledge, peer best practice or thoughtful analysis
