Our philosophy is that every person should be afforded dignity and respect and that no one should be without a safe, affordable, and secure home. We provide services and supports to adults, and families with accompanying children in the form of accommodation, case management, assertive outreach, financial assistance, community connection and referral services. To deliver professional and consistent support to young people who are homeless or at risk of experiencing homelessness. To support the case management team in the ongoing implementation of case management plans and create a therapeutic environment within the crisis accommodation setting. About the role We are seeking a values-driven Crisis Accommodation Support worker for our Youth Services Tranmere program in a Casual capacity. Reporting to the Client Service Coordinator this is a Casual role, based out of Fitzroy North, Victoria. You will successfully Deliver high-quality support services to young people in youth services programs and ensure a safe, nurturing environment for all refuge residents. Adhere to the Journey to Independence Model and Psychologically Informed Environment framework in all interactions. Complete comprehensive intake and risk assessments for refuge clients, including the needs of accompanying children where relevant, and ensure the safe management of crisis accommodation programs with thorough handovers to colleagues. Orient residents to the Journey to Independence Model, guiding them towards appropriate behaviours for a successful refuge stay. Support young people in attending health, wellbeing, education, employment, housing, and life skills appointments as outlined in case management plans. Assist residents in preparing for independent living, including meal preparation, life skills, hygiene, recreation, and exercise. Provide informal support to outreach clients living in the community. Assist with daily cleaning and maintenance of the refuge environment and respond effectively to critical incidents, working solo when required. Maintain WHS systems and complete necessary documentation for client incidents during shifts. Report incidents or risks to YS management and ensure relevant handovers during shift changes. Document all client interactions within SAMIS and adhere to program case note standards. Follow financial and administrative processes according to program policy and procedure manuals. Model positive interpersonal relationships, contribute to a positive workplace culture, and engage respectfully with colleagues. Stay calm, focused, and adaptable during change, crisis, and difficulty; maintain flexibility in a dynamic work environment. Engage in reflective practice, seek professional development opportunities, and participate in supervision with the line manager. You will have Tertiary qualification in social sciences, welfare or related field with a degree qualification preferred. Relevant experience in a social service environment Understanding of and commitment to the mission and values of The Salvation Army Compassion and professionalism in all actions and ethics Strong verbal and communication skills National Police Check Current Victorian Driver’s License Working with Children Check Passion: Genuine passion for working with youth and making a difference in their lives. Experience: Previous experience in youth work, social services, education, or a related field is preferred.
