Full-time, fixed-term opportunity until 6th January 2026 in our Diagnostic Imaging Department Located on the Camperdown Campus at the University Veterinary Teaching Hospital (UVTHS) Exciting opportunity to provide best practice veterinary care in small animal general practice Base Salary HEO3, Step 1 $76,356 p.a (38 hours per week) + 17% superannuation About the opportunity The University of Sydney is welcoming applications for a qualified Veterinary Nurse to provide nursing and technical assistance within the Diagnostic Imaging team.
Your key responsibilities will include:
Performing radiographs, Computed Tomography, Fluoroscopy, and Magnetic Resonance Imaging on hospitalised patients.
Working with Veterinary Radiologists and a Radiographer to coordinate the daily schedule for all diagnostic imaging and communicating the schedule to all relevant stakeholders.
Operating and maintaining advanced diagnostic imaging equipment.
Providing support for clinical teaching and professional nursing assistance with clinical cases.
The small animal service at the University Veterinary Teaching Hospital Camperdown (UVTHS) offers:
A first opinion general practice.
A small animal specialist veterinary practice for the management of a wide range of medical, surgical, and emergent problems.
Second opinion service.
As well as providing gold standard patient care, UVTHS provides an invaluable teaching experience for our final year veterinary students and residents.
You will work closely with Specialists, residents, and interns in all fields.

As such, we see the importance of recruiting talent aligned to these values and are looking for a Veterinary Nurse who has:
A Veterinary Nursing Certificate IV and/or advanced veterinary nursing experience in a small animal veterinary hospital environment.
A valid radiation license or ability to obtain once employed.
Knowledge of a large range of veterinary, surgical, and medical procedures.
Demonstrated ability to cope with emergencies and stressful situations.
Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team.
Experience working in a customer service environment with demonstrated high levels of care for patients and clients.
Good attention to detail.
A willingness and ability to work varying rostered shifts supporting the UVTHS activities, including weekends, overnight, and public holidays.
The ability to communicate with veterinary professionals and academic staff.
The ability to lift animals up to 16kg and heavier animals with assistance (mechanical and/or team lifting), adhering to the University's Heavy Lifting Policy.
Competence and experience in best practice veterinary anaesthesia.
Experience working in a veterinary teaching hospital environment preferred.
Been vaccinated for Q Fever or willingness to be vaccinated.
