Alzheimer’s WA (AWA) is the leading provider of dementia care services in Western Australia, with a team of approximately 270 staff. We operate from our central office in Subiaco and four support service houses located in Shenton Park, Woodvale, Mandurah and Albany.
In the last financial year, we delivered over 40,000 hours of individual support through Home Care Packages, and our digital presence reached over 280,000 people seeking dementia related information and support via our website.

Position Summary
This role is Albany based, reporting directly to the House Manager. Support Workers are responsible for providing high-quality dementia support services to clients, including building rapport with clients and improving overall quality of life through ongoing support.
Ideal Candidate Profile
* Certificate III in Individual Support, Ageing or Disability.
* Current Senior First Aid [HLTAID011], CPR [HLTAID009] and Manual Handling [HLTWHS005] (with 3+ months until expiry) is ideal; however, training can be provided for the right candidate.
* Previous experience within the aged care or healthcare sector.
* Unrestricted working rights in Australia.
* NDIS Worker Screening Check.
* COVID vaccination certificate.
Key Responsibilities
* Collaborate with the team to provide person-centred support to people living with dementia.
* Build rapport and provide companionship to clientele living with dementia.
* Contribute to improving quality of life through ongoing support.
* Create an environment supportive of the wellbeing needs of people living with dementia, their families, and their carers.
* Plan and commit to activities that provide opportunities to maintain skills and promote independence, whilst respecting a client’s personal choice.
* Communicate effectively and empathetically with people living with dementia and their carers.
* Engage in meaningful relations with people living with dementia, supporting their abilities, always promoting their dignity, and providing reassurance and validation of their feelings.
