Position Overview: Your primary responsibility as the Engineering Manager is to lead all Brisbane site engineering, maintenance, capital works, and improvement activities so that buildings, facilities, services, equipment, and technology meet agreed company requirements for reliability, safety, quality, throughput, and efficiency. It also includes providing APSA Regional Engineering support as further detailed below. You will sit within the Animal Health Manufacturing (AHM) organisation, report to the Site Manager, and be part of the Site Leadership Team. Overall, the role is to lead, inspire, and empower your teams to deliver high-quality engineering and improvement projects while fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment. What will you do: Site Engineering & Maintenance: Oversee the Maintenance team to ensure all maintenance schedules are delivered. Ensure resources to meet routine maintenance, calibration, and unplanned breakdowns. Ensure robust engineering/maintenance procedures meet the Site needs and are maintained in an audit-ready condition. In conjunction with the Maintenance Manager, develop a reliability program to ensure equipment is operating efficiently and effectively while minimizing downtime. In conjunction with the Maintenance Manager, develop and maintain effective cost control strategies. APSA Regional: Establish and lead an APSA Regional Engineering Strategy that supports business objectives by ensuring a clear and consistent approach, along with sharing of best practice solutions. Lead the Regional Capex Review process and interface with Global Capex teams to support the critical business needs via a strategic 5-year investment plan. Interface with other Regional Engineering Managers and Global Engineering to drive and adopt common ways of working. Lead the identification, development, deployment, and maintenance of engineering processes, procedures, and tools to reduce risk and lower costs through engineering excellence, standardization, innovation, productivity, quality, and continuous improvement. Drive initiatives to improve skills, talent identification, and mobility in the engineering organization. Coach and mentor identified High Potential Talent. Serve as project engineer/technical liaison/capital team lead for major regional projects to ensure reliability, maintainability, and operability of installed equipment. Continuous Improvement: Fostering a culture of continuous improvement within the team. Identification of cost reduction opportunities through productivity measures. Analysing Utility and Energy data to determine trends to optimize the systems. Leading problem-solving activities of a technical nature. In conjunction with the Improvement Manager, develop competitive productivity improvement targets for the site. Capital Works: In conjunction with Site Management, develop a competitive and targeted Capital Improvement Plan aligned with the Site Master Plan and the business strategy. Oversee the development of effective engineering-based solutions to meet changes to company needs e.g., capacity, quality, efficiency, safety, and environmental. Ensure delivery of all site projects. Communicate project timelines to relevant stakeholders. Manage financial resources by: Setting, reviewing, and adhering to cost centre budgets. Approving relevant capital expenditure within Grant of Authority. Reducing costs through utilization of productivity measurements and implementation of continuous improvements. Supporting site long-term planning to continue to maintain equipment and facilities or plan obsolescence/replacement as needed. Team Leadership: Responsible for building and leading a high-performing multitalented team by recruiting high-quality staff and ensuring team members are motivated and committed. Responsible for allocating resources effectively, monitoring team workload, and ensuring that the necessary tools and equipment are available to support the team's success. Maintain all documentation and take ownership in accordance with Company and relevant quality standards. EHS: Take responsibility for own and others' safety. Ensure all hazards and environmental aspects in your area are identified, documented, assessed, and controlled in accordance with EHS procedures. Ensure compliance with legal and other requirements. Ensure all employees receive such EHS information, instruction, training, and supervision as is necessary to perform their work in a manner that is safe and without significant risk to health or the environment. Compile EHS reports as required by senior management, regulatory authorities, and others. Support the investigation and resolution of incidents and accidents in a timely manner. Ensure scheduled audits and inspections (for which you are responsible) are conducted and necessary corrective actions are developed and completed. What should you have: Tertiary qualification in Engineering, or a related field. Project Management Professional certification or equivalent (preferred). Six Sigma Black Belt or Lean Expert certification (desired). Minimum 10 years of engineering leadership experience. Proven track record of delivering cultural change, developing people, and implementing robust processes. Well-developed project management skills and demonstrated strong leadership. Ability to work effectively across a large geographic spread in a diverse and sometimes virtual/remote engineering group environment. Demonstrated competence in Facility Management and Equipment Maintenance as well as Lean leadership/continuous improvement experience. Business and financial acumen with advanced knowledge and application of Engineering finance and economics. Knowledge of Information Systems. Project management expertise. SAP Experience.
