About the role
The Senior Electronics Design Engineer is a leadership role within EOS Defence Systems (EOS DS) and is responsible for solving problems using disciplined engineering techniques (e.g. software, mechanical, electronics, system, testing etc) to enable development of baselined and software designs that support the product development and product goals of EOS DS.
In this role you will:
* Lead and support a multi-disciplinary team to ensure the timely and professional delivery of project outcomes.
* Provide electronics design analyses in support of product development activities.
* Provide technical advice on work programs and the use of equipment and material.
* Work with systems engineers to ensure all requirements are identified, captured and analysed.
* Work with project engineers to ensure design solutions are delivered on time and on budget and meet identified requirements.
* Produce electronics designs that satisfy defined requirements in the specified time frames.
* Develop, review, update, modify, and approve electrical design plans and work schedules.
* Prepare and review all documentation required to support designs.
* Perform conceptual design, schematic and PCB capture of complex electronic circuits.
* Design/Simulate analogue and high-speed digital circuits.
* Document designs including calculations, design options and decisions.
* Conduct design reviews with the view to endorse electronics design.
* Perform test, evaluation, characterisation, verification & validation of electronic subsystems in collaboration with Test Engineers.
* Prototype High speed electronic circuits, wiring harnesses and other systems.
* Work closely with other engineering disciplines to enable cohesive and complete system designs.
* Apply DFX principles (manufacturability, testability, excellence).
* Outline and assign work, review work for technical accuracy and adequacy and provide guidance and mentorship to Electronics Engineers.
* Adhere to and ensure understanding and compliance with company procedures to achieve a safe and secure work environment.
* Other duties as required.

About You
Senior Electronics Design Engineers need to have in-depth engineering technical knowledge within or across specialist disciplines and “hands-on” experience. Adherence to governance and standards and mobilising people to achieve business outcomes with the appropriate levels of integrity, safety and ethics is critical to the role.
The Senior Electronics Design Engineer may lead a small team and will be responsible for managing, developing and guiding staff to achieve their full potential. They have to provide a high level of support to their team, in consultation with senior leadership, suggest staffing and workflow priorities and monitor and manage performance, health and wellbeing.
You will be an ethical leader, influencer and problem solver who works and interacts with people in cross functional multidisciplinary teams to solve routine engineering problems and solutions.
Experience:
* Minimum 7 years experience in a similar role.
* Minimum 3 years supervision experience.
* Advanced knowledge of computer-aided engineering software packages including CAD.
* Strong knowledge of engineering analysis tools (SPICE, or similar).
* A collaborative mindset, with excellent communication skills and aptitude for applying experiential judgement and lateral approaches to complex problem solving.
* Demonstrated ability to lead a team across the engineering lifecycle through concept development, design, integration, test, sustainment and delivery is desirable.
* Experience with multi-disciplinary teams in a structured product development or project engineering environment is desirable.
* Experience in Defence sector is desirable.
* Expertise in motor control is desirable
* Expertise in high-speed circuit design in Altium Designer is most desirable
* Expertise in harness layout is desirable
* In depth knowledge in Digital and Analogue circuit design
* Expertise in embedded microcontrollers, DSPs, and FPGAs is desirable
* Writing design specifications and reports
* Driving validation and verification activities
* Using and applying DFMEA
* Knowledge of communication buses i.e.I2C, CAN, SPI, Ethernet etc.
* Knowledge on PCB design and layout for EMC, immunity, vibration, and environmental impacts
Qualifications:
* Bachelor Degree in Electrical, Electronics Engineering or similar discipline.
* Postgraduate qualifications in Engineering is highly desirable.
* Registration on, or eligible to gain registration on the NER as a Professional Engineer
