Position Purpose:
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Maintenance Officer to join the Property Team within the Corporate Services Unit at MacKillop Family Services. The successful candidate will support the ongoing maintenance of the MacKillop infrastructure across the ACT and Southern NSW regions. This role will be based in Belconnen, ACT, and reports directly to the Property Coordinator – ACT & Southern NSW.
About the Role:
The Maintenance Officer will play a vital role in maintaining both residential and commercial properties, ensuring they meet safety and operational standards. You will be responsible for managing grounds, garden, and responsive maintenance requests, supporting the property team in overseeing contractors, and contributing to team efforts in maintaining the high standards of MacKillop Family Services' properties.
This is a Permanent Full Time opportunity based in Canberra, ACT within our Residential Care program. The position reports to the Property Coordinator.
Key Selection Criteria:
To be successful in this role, you will need:
* A solid understanding of Aboriginal culture and values and an awareness of the current issues faced by Aboriginal children, young people, and families.
* A qualified trade background with experience in general maintenance, specifically in rural grounds, structural work, and related facilities.
* Proficiency in using hand and power tools and performing minor equipment maintenance.
* A collaborative approach to working within a team environment.
* Excellent organisational and time management skills.
* Preferred trade background in carpentry, plastering, or building.
* Ability to inspect properties and ensure safety standards are upheld, reporting findings to the Property Coordinator.
