About the Role: Reporting to the HSEQ Manager in CCH, the Health and Safety / Environmental Coordinator CCH Projects collaborates and partners with the Project Managers to develop and implement Health and Safety / Environmental systems and strategies that enables a positive safety culture to keep our people and the environment safe, healthy and well. The role is responsible for performing the delivery of diverse and contemporary safety / Environmental approaches and practices within the civil construction and hire arm of the business, at various projects. This is a hands-on, boots on the ground position working within the business units assisting general managers, project managers & project engineers in a fast-moving work environment. You will be promoting and supporting a strong health, safety and environment culture across our workforce. Regular travel to regional & metro areas will be required to fulfil this position.
Duties include but not limited to:
1. The Health and Safety / Environmental Coordinator – CCH Projects will lead the implementation of Health and Safety / Environmental strategies to ensure projects are delivered in line with legislative and client requirements.
2. Coordinate the Health and Safety / Environmental framework, including the administration of KPIs, targets and processes for Health and Safety and environmental performance to be monitored on site and to the client’s approval and requirements.
3. Collaborate with staff to improve hazard inspections and internal audit processes on Health and Safety / Environmental hazards and risks.
4. Conduct Risk Assessments, develop and review SWMS, EWMS, undertake hazard reporting and proactive safety measures.
5. Coordinate the chemical safety within the workplace and actively manage to reduce the associated risks.
6. Assist business units with WHSE reporting & corrective action reports.
7. Assist with the Management of the internal audit process for major projects and the preparation and submission to the client as required under the contract.
To be successful in this role you will need:
1. Relevant qualifications (at a minimum CERT IV or Diploma in Work Health & Safety and / or Environment).
2. Strong understanding of Work Health Safety and Environmental Legislation.
3. Strong knowledge of acts, regulations codes of practice and standards.
4. Knowledge, experience or background in the electrical industry.
5. Preferred candidate has experience in high voltage transmission/distribution & renewable infrastructure projects.
6. Experience in Health and Safety / Environment – preferably on project work.
7. Previous exposure in internal and external auditing.
8. Intermediate to advanced computer literacy in Microsoft Office programs and systems e.g. SharePoint.
9. Superior written and verbal communication with the ability to converse with a wide variety of people.
10. The ability to build effective relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
