plus 17% superAbout the RoleThis role supports laboratory management and OHS functions at the Western Centre for Health Research and Education (Western CHRE) and Northern Centre for Health Education and Research (Northern CHER), fostering safe and effective teaching, research, and public health activities.
Based primarily at Western CHRE with regular support at Northern CHER, the position manages laboratory operations, compliance, and safety programs, including purchasing, resource allocation, waste management, and licensing.
Collaborating with academic and professional managers, the role ensures well-maintained facilities within a complex organizational and shared services environment.Your ResponsibilitiesYour responsibilities will include:Working with UOM/VU managers to ensure that infrastructure and facilities within the assigned areas are efficiently and effectively managed to meet the Centre's teaching and research objectives.Ensuring the Centre's activities are carried out in compliance with the relevant OHS legislation, statutes, regulations and policies.Maintaining strong relationships with other service delivery areas, schools and departments to ensure effective delivery of OHS support.Who We Are Looking ForThe successful candidate will demonstrate exceptional interpersonal skills, with the ability to consult, influence, and build strong relationships across diverse teams.
They possess excellent organisational and time management abilities, effectively balancing competing demands while working independently or collaboratively.
Additionally, they are adept at adopting new technologies and approaches, showing flexibility and a proactive mindset in addressing challenges.You will also have:Undergraduate qualifications in a relevant discipline, such as science and OH&S.Extensive experience of working within a scientific or medical laboratory environment and coordination of personnel in a matrix environment.Demonstrated knowledge of OGTR regulatory requirements and proven experience working within a PC2 containment facility.Excellent interpersonal skills with proven capacity to consult, influence and build rapport with a broad range of people, and maintaining strong effective relationships.This role requires that the successful candidate must undergo and maintain an up-to-date Working with Children Check.
